About Douglas Grant (Teacher)

A longtime middle school teacher and licensed professional counselor, Douglas “Doug” Grant most recently worked at Senior Psych Care in San Antonio, Texas. As a mental health counselor, he coordinated care with close relatives and visited clients within residential facility settings. Douglas Grant employed experience as a teacher in leading a range of activities that addressed behavioral issues and improved memory recall.

Douglas Grant’s caring, empathetic work helped clients transition productively into life within a nursing home setting. His accomplishments included bringing a patient with delusions back to the present through the use of jazz music. He also engaged with a patient who was severely arthritic, using a ball equipped with internal light to ease her pain and help her rebuild physical functionality.

Doug Grant previously taught social studies to sixth-grade students within the Northside Independent School District. He engaged collaboratively with special education students in mainstreamed classroom settings and ensured that their assignments and curriculum were appropriately designed. Active within the educational community, he sponsored the first fishing and archery clubs at Stinson Middle School.
