Donald Crowe, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 30 years of experience. Based in California, Dr. Crowe uses several therapy models in his private practice, which he founded in 1977. Working with individuals, couples, families, and other groups, Dr. Crowe offers psychotherapy services for those dealing with mental illness, substance abuse, and other mental health concerns. Dr. Crowe is dedicated to helping individuals identify and focus on their personal strengths to overcome obstacles. With experience teaching courses on achieving happiness, he aims to help others connect with their authentic selves.Beyond his private practice, Donald Crowe, Ph.D., offers his expertise on a volunteer basis through multiple programs. He has provided psychotherapy services to those without homes through the Berkeley Chaplaincy Program for over two decades. Dr. Crowe also works with these individuals through the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oakland. He provides psychological support for parolees through the diocese, as well. The former staff psychologist at San Quentin Penitentiary, he also provides services to felons through the church.An avid photographer, Donald Crowe, Ph.D., obtained a Certificate in Photography with Distinction from the University of California (UC) Berkeley Extension. Since then, has won several awards for his work. Dr. Crowe uses his photography skills to support the Pets for Vets program, which matches veterans with available pets through the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). Dr. Crowe has established pet adoption programs in six veterans’ hospitals, to which he also donated photo galleries. Additionally, he provides photography services for and sits on the Board of Heartsent Adoptions, Inc., a nonprofit, domestic, and international adoption organization.Don Crowe, Ph.D., and his wife are the parents of a young daughter they adopted from Guatemala. Outside of his professional and volunteer work, he enjoys being active with his family. In addition to playing sports together, the family enjoys sailing, fishing, and hunting. The family owns pet chickens and trains Labrador retrievers for American Kennel Club field trials.Dr. Crowe is a member of several organizations, including the Educational Foundation of Orinda, California, the Institute for Creative and Artistic Development, the American Psychological Association, and the American Civil Liberties Union. He is a supporter of the Southern Poverty Law Center as well as the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self Development. Dr. Crowe contributes to the Village of Hope in DaNang, Vietnam, and supports efforts to halt elephant poaching in Africa.

I have provided psychotherapy services to individuals, couples, families, and groups for 36 years. I have worked extensively with all kinds of individual and couple's problems utilizing existential/humanistic psychotherapies, as well as cognitive behavioral therapies. I was rated by clients the top psychologist for Occupational Health Services, an EAP organization in Oakland in the early 1990's. I have enjoyed a full time private practice since the start of my career.
