Mainly, I handled all expungement matters from initial filing to serving the actual Expungement Order. Paralegal/Legal Assistant

Koulikourdis & Associates

• Client intake for all legal matters (criminal, real estate, personal injury, etc.)

• Drafting of complaints, Expungement Petitions, HUD-1 forms, contracts, and numerous other legal documents

• Organized all opened and closed files in office for all attorneys

• Performed all secretarial duties, such as transcription/dictation, answering telephones, etc.

Ultimately, I had to leave this position due to my academic schedule. I needed to completely focus on taking my career to the next level and apply for admission to Law School. I gained admission to New York Law School and attended the first semester of my 1L year. However at the end of my first semester, my student loans from my undergraduate school (Seton Hall University), became too much of a burden for my graduate school loans and I was unable to finance my legal education. Therefore, I was unable to attend the second semester.

Paralegal/ Legal Secretary

Law Offices of Harry C. Batchelder, Jr.

•Interviewed indigent offenders and their families during intake or in the Metropolitan Detention Center and E.D.N.Y. holding cells

• Filed motions, memorandums, etc. with Southern and Eastern District Courts of New York several times a week

• Prepared files of new clients that consisted of documents such as a Pre-Sentencing Report, legal memorandums, and other pertinent information

• Received direct commendation from the Honorable Allyne R. Ross of the Eastern District Court of New York for drafting a memorandum on a client’s mandatory minimum sentencing issue

• Gathered extensive information pertaining to Mandatory Minimum Sentencing issues for indigent defendants suffering from crack-cocaine dependency

This position solidified my initial curiosity of the legal arena into an insatiable zeal. Mr. Batchelder, a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force, possesses a L.L.M. from the London School of Economics and a J.D. from the University of Virginia. Mr. Batchelder is a criminal defense attorney specializing in CJA (Criminal Justice Act) matters. I assisted in his defense of indigent offenders who have been charged with federal crimes. Amongst his overwhelming grasp of the law and everything it affects, he has taught me that it was not about how bad the person is or how bad the crime itself was, it is all about the proper protection and application of the law in the United States. I have grown close to both Mr. Batchelder and his wife and we still keep in touch. He has acted as my mentor in many regards and I am truly fortunate having worked with him

Summary

Extremely ambitious individual working in the field of law in order to obtain indistinguishable experience, a competitive rate of pay, and invaluable education pertaining to the legal arena. I believe that what separates me from most is that although the goals I achieve are rewards in and of themselves, the journey I embark on in order to meet those goals are what drives me. The true passion of my life is the daily grind, the hustle of everyday life because without it, no long term goals can be attained. The greatest feeling for me in achieving something is remembering how and why I got there and where I am going next.
