As a U.S. Army veteran currently living in Staten Island, New York, Domenic Gatto is esteemed for his work as a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist. Domenic Gatto left high school in 1967 to join the U.S. Army and serve in the Vietnam War. During his time in the military, Domenic Gatto participated in basic training, advanced infantry training, paratrooper jump school, and infantry officer training at Fort Benning, Georgia. Domenic Gatto eventually achieved the rank of Sergeant. In 1969, he was honorably discharged after receiving a wound while on active duty. In July 1972, Domenic Gatto founded his own school bus company, called Atlantic Express Transportation Corp. Since that time, Domenic Gatto has led his company to become the largest American-owned school bus company in the nation. Based in Staten Island, Atlantic Express Transportation Corp. services 7 states and employs nearly 11,000 individuals. Providing numerous transportation services, the company maintains passenger wagons and sedans, wheelchair vans, a fleet of luxury coaches, and several styles of school buses. Domenic Gatto sold the Atlantic Express Transportation Corp. for $270 million in 1998, but he continues to serve as the company’s President and Chief Executive Officer. As a committed philanthropist, Domenic Gatto regularly contributes to several important organizations, including the Stephen Siller Children’s Foundation, the Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide, Inc., the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Hope for the Warriors, Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the New York City Marine Corps Council. Domenic Gatto also offers generous scholarships to special education students who ride school buses operated by Atlantic Express Transportation Corp. Beyond his professional endeavors, Domenic Gatto enjoys pursuing his favorite hobbies of boating and playing golf. He serves as both the major shareholder and Chairman of the Eagle Oaks Golf & Country Club in Farmingdale, New Jersey. For his leisure, Domenic Gatto reads the works of his favorite authors, who include Lee Iacocca, Norman Schwarzkopf, and Colin Powell. Domenic Gatto’s favorite books are No More Vietnams by Richard M. Nixon and It Doesn’t Take a Hero: The Autobiography of General H. Norman Schwarzkopf.

I have remained the CEO since then with multiple contract renewals. I have raised more than $650M in the public markets and hundreds of millions in institutional markets over my 38 years in business. In 2003 I became a partner and chairman of the board of Eagle Oaks Golf and Country Club. The clubs revenue has nearly tripled to $10M in sales as of 2010. I attended the following while enlisted: basic training, advanced infantry training , jump school & became a paratrooper ,attended non-commissioned officers tranining at the infanrty school at Ft Benning, GA . Graduated as a Sgt. I was honorably discharged in March of 1969 after being wounded in the line of duty. I started my company in july 1972.
