For Higher Education

Through much of my career I worked in higher education. As an employee at the University of Washington and Washington State, and as a consultant at Stanford, Cornell, University of Illinois, Seattle University, and several others I developed an affinity for higher education and an appreciation of the unique challenges of institutional culture. The rare combination of higher education and business intelligence experience leads to a natural interest in institutional performance metrics -- an interest that has evolved into speaking, writing, and teaching about a variation of BI that I call Institutional Intelligence. I offer a popular full-day course titlled Requirements Analysis for Institutional Intelligence and teach other BI topics tailored to the unique needs and challenges of higher education. See the sidebar on the right to download an institutional intelligence  presentation and paper.

I am a co-founder and the Director of Education at eLearningCurve, a company that is dedicated to delivering high-quality, on-demand business and technical training via the internet. I continuously seek the top practitioners and educators in the fields for which we offer courses. Current curricula include Data Quality, Master Data Management (MDM), Data Governance, and Data Modeling. Planned curricula in coming months include Agile Development, IT Governance, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, and Enterprise Architecture.

This perspective – refined through a career of more than thirty-five years that encompassed business and technical roles – helps to align business and information technology in the most effective ways.
