Bachelor of Science in Visual Arts

SUNY Empire State College

I am thrilled to have been able to integrate my graphic design courses from The Fashion Institute of Technology into my Bachelor of Science degree at Empire State College.

Art serves as the catalyst that wrestles comprehension from the fateful sociopolitical and cultural shifts of each historical era.  For my final project, I served as curator for an exhibition by graduating visual art students.  I was able to design the exhibition postcard and create an accompanying website.

Jordan Kaplan

Ms. Johnstone’s experience should be a reminder to all that what we teach and learn from a text should be considered guides, not the absolute last word on strategic goal setting and strategic planning. Of particular note was her discussion of the process by which Harper embarked on a goal to integrate their book publishing operations into the then emerging area of internet marketing, promotion and sales. Her detailed explanation of how the limitations and constraints of server technology, software and network control protocols were addressed and overcome were an insightful window into how creativity, adaptability, flexibility, determination, and intuition come into play in the development of both strategic goals and the development of strategic plans.-- Jordan Kaplan DBA  Jordan J.
