Project Manager


Hewlett Packard is a large international Information Technology company and as a project manager, I am part analyst, accountant, administrator, manager, leader, visionary/strategic thinker, planner, negotiator, quality control advocate, team coach, business expert and technical subject matter expert.  

I manage multiple large cross-functional projects in a SAP environment, utilizing all aspects of project management including work breakdown structures, critical path evaluations, resource plans, risk management and change control.  Direct daily project execution activities related to systems management, software development, documentation development, testing, training development, systems delivery and production support using waterfall and agile project methodologies.

Key accomplishments:

  • Facilitate resource management across 200+ projects and 1000 Information Technology personnel worldwide. Ensure that resources are deployed effectively relative to strategic objectives through resource request and fulfillment.

Major projects include:

  • Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW): Responsible to provide data from HP Services SAP to the EDW system. Project presents major challenges including a very aggressive time line, learning curve, scope, and the fact that the EDW releases are not aligned with the corporate release calendar. Accomplish project completion within time line, allowing the CIO to use EDW product as a showcase for external customers. (Budget: $7m)
  • Corporate Finance migration of Accounts Receivables to SAP: Worldwide project, spanning multiple years, involves working with people from different cultures and geographies. The project requires accurate synchronization between the various feeder systems into the corporate Receivables Management system.
  • Lighthouse General Ledger: A multi-year project with the purpose to retire the corporate General Ledger (GL) legacy system, and migrate the GL to a SAP platform, using newly defined corporate financial reference data.

Senior SAP Software Engineer


Hewlett Packard is a large international Information Technology company.  Working in the HP Services division on the SAP platform, I am exposed to a wide spectrum of people, technologies and business challenges.   

Major tasks include:

  • System Analysis and Design. Working on the SAP platform, I am responsible for design and development of all financial interfaces to the corporate General Ledger, Account Receivables, and Account Payables. These interfaces are shared by multiple business solutions ( Order & Contract, Compass, Supply Chain etc.) with different requirements & priorities. From a platform perspective it is very important to manage an design these interface to a single standard, which are almost always in conflict with user requirements. My role is to negotiate & design a best solution to enable a best in class interface landscape for users, production support and interface partners.
  • Quality Assurance and Standards Definition. Working with financial transactions, it is very important that development projects are managed with a strong emphasis on quality. I participate in the SOX audit to ensure compliance. I am an active participant to define/improve standards & processes on the SAP platform.
  • SAP Development. Develop custom SAP solutions where standard SAP does not provide the required solution. Development include business user liaison to determine requirements, analysis, design, testing, documentation user training and hand-off to production support.

Software Engineer

Pandesic is a major Application Service Provider using SAP R/3 as the back- end processor for e-commerce web sites.  The Pandesic product consists of SAP R/3 and custom developed web pages to allow a simple interface for the customer to the SAP functionality.  The product supports the complete transaction processing through order, delivery, funds capturing and invoices.  As part of Implementation services I was responsible for the installation and support of the Pandesic product.  Major tasks include:

  • Liaison with the customer on a business and technical level. During this process, the customer's business model is analyzed and the results are documented in a business blueprint. Strong business knowledge is required to re-engineer the business process as part of the solution.
  • The information documented is used to customize SAP R/3 to reflect the customer's business environment. An in-depth knowledge of the IMG and business customizing is required.
  • Development of enhancements to bridge the gap between customer's requirements and the standard solution.
  • Installing and configuration of 3rd party products like Cybercash, Tandata Progistics, Linkshare, MS Site Server to interact with SAP.
  • Analyze customer's data structure and perform data loads. The final step is a full customer specific testing of the system before delivering.
  • Provide 4th level support, including root cause analysis and problem resolution.
  • Develop and execute an upgrade process for SAP 3.1H to 4.5B. This requires knowledge of SAP Basis, ALE & IDOC's.

SAP Environment Engineer


Consultant at IBM on the worldwide implementation of SAP R/3 4.5 for the IBM business function: World Wide Distribution.  The business function is responsible for the world wide movement and delivery of shipments. 

  • Responsible for the technical environment and single point of contact for the basis team.
  • Planning of project landscape i.e. Systems, Clients, transport procedures.
  • Detail involvement in the project planning, utilizing ASAP methodology.
  • Manage SAP upgrade from 4.5a - 4.5b. Manage capacity planning for the SAP project. This involved an initial user based capacity planning and later a more detailed transaction based plan.
  • Manage the migration of the database server from a Unix platform to OS/390.
  • Analysis of interfaces. This includes a lot of time with the business people to identify requirements as well as technical analysis to determine the best way to implement the relevant interface.
  • Develop ABAP/4 programs, develop interfaces, including ALE configuration, and Idoc customization.
  • Investigate issues surrounding a global roll-out i.e. Languages, code pages, unicode. Troubleshoot SAP problems, use SAP OSS System and apply OSS notes.
  • Manage WindowsNT server and Windows Terminal Server. Setup these machines to allow the users to use LAN based software tools over the WAN.
  • Education to the business users team on the usage of the SAP Change & Transport system.
