Work History

Work History
Mar 2010 - Present

VP, Engineering

Interactive Display Solutions, Inc. / Primeview Display Inc.

Setup Value Added Business Unit of Interactive Display Solutions, Inc., enhancing LCD displays by optical bonding, anti-reflection film lamination, passive and active backlight enhancements, and touch panel integration. Set up additional contract assembly and kitting services of LCD and embedded/single board computer products. Delivered profit in first year of new busness unit.

Oct 2003 - Mar 2010

President / Founder

Flat Panel Display Solutions, LLC.

Developed and executed business plan for FPD enhancement company serving niche application markets, primarily in flight entertainment and marine/nautical control and computer systems. Products include optical bonding of rigid (glass, acrylic, polycarbonate, touch) optical materials, optical lamination of films, passive and active backlight enhancements, windows and filters for optical enhancement and EMI/RFI. Developed and delivered display training and licensing to companies in Taiwan, S. Korea, and Oregon, USA.Sold company assets in March 2010 to Primeview Display Inc. of Irvine, CA.

Jun 2001 - Oct 2003

Project Manager / Engineer IV

White Electronic Designs Corp.

Developed Single Piece Flow High Volume Glass Lamination process line that reduced labor time from 2 hours per unit to less than 25 minutes per unit. This Process allowed selling price to be reduced by 50% while doubling margin and increasing revenue for a 6 Operator shift from under $2 Million to over $5 Million Annual Revenue. This Process Line was later replicated in Suzhou China.

Selected, installed, and tooled automated test equipment for flat panel display measurement and characterization including Westar FPM-505, ELDIM EZ-Contrast, and Photoresearch PR-650 Spectrophotometer. Filed continuation in parts for SBLR patent. I developed and managed AMLCD products for major industrial and military customers.

Transferred Display Division from Westborough, MA to Hillsboro, OR. Set-up pilot facility, which replicated that in MA and trained production teams at Hillsboro facility to perform optical lamination and bonding of LCD displays. Participated in design and build of 80,000 sq. ft. display value added facility including over 15,000sq. ft. of Class 10,000 clean room.

Trained quality department in glass and AMLCD inspection per industry standards.

Aug 1997 - Jun 2001

Process Engineer / Project Manager

White Electronic Designs Corporation

Developed Military, Avionics, Industrial, and Commercial LCD programs from RFQ Review thru final deliveries and long life support.Specified filters, tooling, materials, and procedures to build prototypes. Transfers programs from engineering to production. Writes documentation for assembly, test, and quality assurance inspection. Performs optical characterization of displays and display components. Communicate with customer/engineer to negotiate specification and to deliver product that meets or exceeds specification. Provided ruggedized 10.4” AMLCD solution to General Dynamics for M1A2 as replacement for OIS display when OIS doors closed. Delivered ruggedized 16.1” AMLCD solution to Sanders for ASA-82 program. Written and performed ATP per customers, MIL, RTCA, SAE, and ANSI specifications. Developed robust processes and materials to meet extreme environmental conditions. Received Patent on SBLR™ (Super Bright Low Reflection) Technology.

Aug 1995 - Aug 1997

Manufacturing Manager / Process Engineer

Displays and Technologies

Managed production of and developed LCD bonding using epoxy and silicone technologies. production and prototype display enhancement on LCDs. Developed drawings, assembly instructions, flowcharts, and process documentation for 20 customized AMLCD assemblies for military, avionics & commercial applications. Played significant role in transfer of technology from facility in Santa Rosa, CA. to facility in Vancouver, WA. Trained technicians to handle and process optical components, LCD’s, and backlights, inspect to MIL spec for optical components, to take optical measurements, and to work with a variety of commercial optical bonding epoxies, silicones, and RTV’s. Worked with engineering to transfer product from engineering to manufacturing, approved ECO’s for display manufacturing. Developed and improved processes to increase yield, efficiency and to decrease overhead and work in progress inventory. Performed cost analyses of production programs and identified and executed reduction cost strategies.
