I started my internship with the Arena Football League 2 (AF2) in September 2008.  I was hired to work as an accounting/finance intern.  During this time, I have assisted the accounting/finance manager with the accounts payable/accounts receivable on software called Peachtree.  I have entered bills, payed bills, invoiced league member teams.  I have also done cash updates, cut checks for our bills, updated team payroll reports, and expense report verifications.  I now understand how to perform these functions, and am eager to further perfect these skills while taking on new ones.

I worked for Union Lightning Protection Installers Inc., on and off for four years.  I started off by working in the warehouse of the main office summer in the summer of 2004.  During that summer, I assisted the warehouse manager in the day-to-day operations of the warehouse.  I was initially hired for $9.00/hour.  Two years later in the fall of 2005, I was re-hired for $9.50/hour while working approximately 25 hours a week during my freshman year at the College of Lake County.  During this time, I was responsible for overseeing the companies satellite offices' warehouse in Park City, IL.  The warehouse I oversaw had a value of $120,000 in total physical inventory.  I also was responsible for processing material requisitions that averaged $35,000 each.  I also assisted in other company related projects such as data entry for inventory, transporting material to job sites.  I also assisted the AutoCAD department and the project managers when they needed help.  I then left the company in the fall of 2006 to move down to Chicago for school.  I was then re-hired during the summer of 2007 for $10.00/hour to once again oversee the warehouse in Park City.  During this time I resumed my previous duties, while also training and developing three new employees for this position once I went back to school.  This latter job duty gave me experience in managing and employee growth.  Since then I have enhanced these skills.

I began my internship with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) in October 2007.  When I was first hired, my first project was assisting with the company layoff workshops.  I was responsible for creating a shift schedule for employees within our department that were helping us, and then managing the employees when the orientations occurred.  After that, my department was responsible for integrating and maintaining a new company program consisting of 250 employees on a day to day basis.  I was involved during the screening, hiring, and orientations of this program.  Once the program was implemented, I was part of a team that oversaw this program on a day to day basis.  This consisted of maintaining employees evaluations, the screening, hiring/terminating of employees, medical issues of employees.  When new employees were hired for this program, I was responsible for conducting the orientations.  The average orientation consisted of 10 people.  When I was not working on this project I assisted with other Human Resource departments such as: compensation, benefits, recruiting and records.

Since I started school at DePaul University, I have had a cumulative GPA of 3.18/4.00.  During my time here I have grown as a person thru my experience in these relevant courses: Financial Reporting, Cost Accounting, Professional Writing for Business, and Introduction to Web Design.

While at the College of Lake County, I obtained a GPA of 3.1/4.0.  I also was awarded certificates for being named to the Dean's List both semesters that I was there.  Some relevent classes that I took were: Fundamentals of Speech, Business Law, and Basic Logic.
