Dr. Derek Walrod owns Flatrock Family Dentistry, a full-service preventive care and dental surgery center located in North Platte, Nebraska. Dr. Walrod began providing services at Flatrock Family Dentistry in 2006 after owning and operating the Gothenburg Dental Clinic in Gothenburg, Nebraska, for many years. Dr. Derek Walrod and his team of experienced oral health care professionals offer a variety of services at Flatrock Family Dentistry, including pediatric dental care; root canal therapy; sedation dentistry; oral surgery; and cosmetic dental procedures, such as teeth whitening. Before pursuing a career in dentistry, Dr. Derek Walrod earned a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, with a minor in Chemistry, from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. While attending the school, he also studied art history, regularly attended Cornhusker games, and engaged in charity projects as a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He went on to earn a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in Lincoln, Nebraska. Presently, Dr. Walrod advances his professional skills and learns about new techniques and technologies through involvement in several dental associations. He serves as President of the Northwest Nebraska Dental Association and also holds membership in the American Dental Association and the Nebraska Dental Association, the latter of which operates as one of the state’s largest networks of practicing dentists and industry professionals. Derek Walrod, DDS, also belongs to the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD); he completed 500 hours of continuing dental education with the AGD to receive the prestigious title of Fellow.During his free time, Dr. Derek Walrod enjoys participating in outdoor sports. Some of his favorite pastimes include whitewater rafting, downhill skiing, fishing, and pheasant hunting.
