Key Deliverables:

  • Responsible for NACO National Condom Promotion Program operation (Govt. Free Supply and Social Marketing).
  • Provide leadership to Region/state teams for NACO condom promotion program at national level.
  • Provide technical support to NACO for develop detailed condom promotion plan involving all stakeholders like State AIDS Control Societies, Social Marketing Organisations, State Health Department and other development partners.
  • Provide technical assistance to NACO for designing and managing national condom promotion program budget and ensuring high operational efficiency.
  • Provide technical assistance to NACO for effective supply chain management of free condoms and minimize the wastage.
  • Responsible for national estimation of free condom requirements for NACO programmes.
  • Handle liaising and coordination with procurement department of MoHFW for timely indenting and procurements of condoms.
  • Provide technical assistance to NACO on capacity building, monitoring and evaluation of condom promotion program under Targeted Interventions (TIs) Program for high risk, bridge and migrant population.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to NACO on implementation of implementing the Condom Social Marketing Programme (CSMP).
  • Providing strategic and operational support to Social Marketing Organisations (SMOs) for executing Condom Social Marketing Programme.
  • Review tactical plans of Social Marketing Organisations and support them to develop effective plan for expanding condom market and increasing the number of condoms selling outlets.
  • Responsible for planning and execution of demand generation and behavioral change activities on condom promotion in the region.
  • Periodic field level evaluation and validation of SMOs program.
  • Pilot innovations for promoting condom use and support its scale up.

Noteworthy Accomplishments: 

  • Successfully develop and handle national team of 4 Regional and 22 State level managers of TSG-NACO.
  • Successfully run NACO condom promotion operation with close coordination of all 36 State AIDS Control Societies (SACSs).
  • Successfully implementing NACO targeted Condom Social Marketing Programme (CSMP) in 24 states and 395 priorities districts across India.
  • Initiate Condom Social Marketing among TI-NGOs with adequate targets to minimize free condom supply and maximize paid condom uses among HRGs and Bridge Population.
  • Coordinating and monitoring all special interventions of NACO at the state level such as Female Condom Program, Condom Vending Machine (CVM) Program, Migrant Health Camps and RRE.
  • Initiated scientific formula based demand estimation for free condoms to minimize wastage.
  • Initiated weekly tracking of free condoms status at TI NGO level for effective inventory management and monthly tracking of free condom inventory at SACS.
  • Overall social marketing condom distribution in rural area has grown by over 150% (from 351 in 2007-08 to 878 million pcs in 2013-14).
  • Increasing accessibility of social marketing condoms at High Risk sites and THP areas helped in reducing demand and wastage for free condoms.
