About Deepa Walton

Deepa Walton has been practicing law in the financial sector for nearly a decade. Having studied at Hamilton College and Columbia University, she is the former vice president and senior counsel at Citigroup in New York City. During her six-year tenure with the company, Deepa Walton performed a range of duties focused on ensuring securities laws and FINRA and SEC regulation compliance.

Ms. Walton focused largely on Securities Act Rules 138 and 139 and FINRA Rule 2711 and was responsible for everything from policy drafting and consultant interviews to assisting with staff training.

Currently, Ms. Walton performs compliance duties as an attorney for Credit Suisse. Her current work focuses on FINRA Rules 2711, 2241, and 2242. She offers guidance to research analysts, works with information barriers, and analyzes issues relating to client interactions and research independence.

In her free time, Ms. Walton enjoys reading and playing badminton. She loves tennis and regularly attends the US Open. Beyond that, she enjoys cooking Indian food and traveling around India and Europe; she has visited such cities as Prague and Vienna.
