Buyer/Customer Service Manager
At Lurvey's garden center I started as a part time seasonal cashier. By the end of the first season I became a full time employee and head cashier. In 2002 I started to assist the buyer in some of the purchasing for the store. Also during that time I hired and trained cashiers for the season, merchandised and created displays in the store, and managed the store. In 2003 I became the sole buyer, which consisted of pottery,statuary,fountains,garden art,benches,arbors,trellises,and all fertilizers,pesticides,and fungicides,along with anything else we sold in the store, and still maintained all the other duties. I was also responsible for maintaing accurate inventory as well as setting pricing and profit margins. Closing out the registers,balancing and creating deposits were also a part of my duties. I also helped with marketing. Customer service is to me absolutely the most important thing. You can have the most awesome store but if your employees do not practice excellent customer service???
