Director, School Improvement and Data Support

School District of Philadelphia

As Director of School Improvement, I provide strategic planning, direction, coordination and guidance for schools designated as “Priority” and “Focus” within the School District of Philadelphia and Charter Schools. This work requires that I assist with the development of school improvement plans, conduct site visits to monitor implementation of instructional practices, data analysis, climate, and compile necessary reports to the Pennsylvania Department of Education. Based upon findings, I provide training, professional development, and technical support in the targeted areas. I assist principals and leadership teams with implementing instructional strategies with fidelity. I provide professional development on topics including but not limited to; Data Analysis, Rigor and Relevance, Differentiated Instruction, Aligning Instruction to the Common Core, Positive Behavior Support, Restorative Practices, etc.

  • Responsible for the overall supervision and management of School Improvement Services for School District of Philadelphia and Philadelphia Charter Schools
  • Solely responsible for the review and approval of all “Priority” and “Focus” school Improvement Plans
  • Proactively support “Priority” and “Focus” schools in the implementation, monitor, evaluation, reflective feedback, and mid course revisions of School Improvement Plans
  • Provide accountability reporting to Pennsylvania Department of Education regarding turnaround efforts
  • Provide information, professional development, and on-site technical assistance to assist school with the improvement process
  • Work with schools to identify and implement strategies and resources for reducing the achievement gap and improving academic performance
  • Data Analysis/Data Informed Instruction/Data Informed Decision-Making
  • Promote use of best practices through on-site technical assistance
  • Support Pennsylvania Department of Education initiatives through training and management of Intermediate Unit Building Capacity Grant Funds

Delaware County Intermediate Unit

As School Improvement Specialist I provided training and technical assistance to School District of Philadelphia, Charter Schools and schools located within Delaware County, Pennsylvania. Technical assistance in the turnaround effort included but not limited to; fidelity walks, reflective feedback, monitoring implementation of the school improvement plan, data analysis, and professional development.

• Co-developed the “Getting Results” framework for PDE’s School Improvement Planning Process
• Provided training to Intermediate Units across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on the School Improvement Planning Process
• Co-developed the framework for review of School Improvement Plans for the Pennsylvania Department of Education
• Facilitated data analysis programs for 15 local school districts and individual schools
• Assisted 15 local school districts with curriculum alignment, instruction, and assessment to the PA Academic Standards

As assistant to the principal, I proudly co-supervised a staff of 60 employees by assigning duties, evaluating performance, and resolving issues. I served as an instructional leader by monitoring implementation of effective instructional practices and facilitating professional development. Initiated and implemented Positive Behavior Support System and Code of Conduct in order to provide a safe and orderly learning environment ensuring the implementation of high quality instructional practices as well as managed climate to provide a safe and orderly learning environment.
