As Elementary & Middle Grades Program Director, I am responsible for all K-8 programs within the Mobile Area Education Foundation including:

  • Reading Buddies (1st-3rd grade)
  • Wouldn't It Be Cool (4th grade)
  • EYE Elementary Clubs (4th-5th grade)
  • EYE STEM Modules (6th-8th grade)
  • Choices (8th grade)
  • EYE Summer Camps (4th-8th grade)

Assistant Director, Engaging Youth through Engineering

Mobile Area Education Foundation

Engaging Youth through Engineering (EYE) is a workforce and economic development initiative created to bring relevance to the K-12 mathematics and science curriculum. The goal of EYE is to inspire, engage and prepare middle school students to take the coursework needed to support the growing demand for highly skilled and technology-savvy workers for major industries located in the Mobile, Alabama area, including aerospace and shipbuilding.

Students will use the Engineering Design Process to apply mathematics and science in order to solve relevant problems in the classroom and produce the technology and products needed in the world today.

Responsibiities Include:

Project manager for middle grades engineering curriculum module development - monitoring the progress of 8 middle grades curriculum modules, planning and setting project timelines, facilitating communication between writing team, coordinating support team members,

Lead professional development training sessions for middle grades teachers on middle grades modules.

Provide coaching and support to teachers during implementation of the modules.

The Gulf Coast Exploreum Science Center

Responsibilities included: 

Develop and manage the Education Department’s strategic plan and operational budget to ensure the viability of current programs and make recommendations for new revenue sources from educational offerings, initiatives, and programs.

Provide leadership, training and supervision to the Education Team, including 5 coordinators, 7 presenters, and 13 exhibit assistants to engage visitors of all ages in high-quality, educational offerings throughout the permanent galleries, theater, and traveling exhibits.

Plan, develop and execute a wide range of educational programs including curriculum-based demonstrations, weekend programs, special events, theater demonstrations, and teacher training.

Direct the planning, development, and implementation of all permanent gallery projects including exhibit design, signage, and programming.

Represent the Exploreum as the senior education staff member to collaborate with the development department in the creation and implementation of all sponsored educational programs.
