Campus Wellness Programs Created

  • Gamecocks on the Move (GOTM): Fall 2012 and Spring 2013
    • Planned, implemented, and evaluated 5K Training Program for USC faculty and staff
    • Fall 2012 -
      • Created resources for participants to use to help them train for 5K, such as 10-week training plan, information about stretching and injury prevention, calendar of local races, and directory of GOTM members
      • Signed up GOTM Team for 2 local races in October
      • Evaluated GOTM Pilot Program to make improvements for next semester
    • Spring 2013 - 5K Training Program for USC students, faculty, and staff who signed up for Changing Carolina 5k
      • Did not get implemented due to time and registration conflicts
      • Materials, such as training plans, calendars, and emails, were created for new graduate assistants to implement in the following semesters in organized and efficient manner
  • Heart Beat Pedometer Challenge: February 2012 and February 2013
    • Planned, implemented, and evaluated 4-week, team-based pedometer challenge for USC faculty and staff
      • 69-75% participation rate in both years
      • Sustainable program that can be successfully implemented in the following semesters by new graduate assistants
      • Presented 2012 results at Graduate Student Day Poster Competition in April 2013
  • Choose to Lose Weight Management Program - Fall 2011, Spring 2012, Fall 2012, Spring 2013
    • Conducted fitness assessments to determine eligibility of participants
    • Health Coach -  provided motivational emails and support to team as well as nutritional and physical activity advice
    • Developed workouts to keep program fun and exciting by using themes, such as upcoming holidays and monthly health awareness events
  • Summer Wellness Bingo Challenge - Summer 2012
    • Planned and implemented wellness challenge during slow summer months for USC faculty and staff
    • Created promotional flyer, rules, and bingo card
    • Bingo card was designed to increase awareness and participation in Campus Wellness Services as well as increase healthy eating choices and physical activity

    • BLAST - presented to 15 different faculty and staff departments throughout 2 years
