Once Upon a Stocking

Founded by Designer Dawn Quinn, Once upon a Stocking creates Quality Christmas and Specialty Holiday Stockings. We offer an array of custom designs and Holiday Decorations for retailers and individuals. And with our Profit For A Purpose program, together we can assist Charitable Causes especially during the Christmas Holiday Season. Give a Personalized Christmas Stocking as a Gift, use it as that Special Holiday Decoration, or even brighten your room with a Licensed Collegiate or Sorority Christmas Stocking.

Sole owner and entrepreneur.  Retains P&L responsibility for entire company.  Used personal capital to create new enterprise.   Drove pricing decisions, measurements, deployment tools, job cost marketing and milestone planning. 

  • Recommended and drove company mission and trademark.
  • Researched competition to gain market advantage and implemented price increases adding  annually to bottom line without affecting market share. 
  • Implemented tools to measure deployment quality and monitor sales and investments to make cost effective “go, no go” decisions on marketing decisions. 
  • Performed sales business development recruiting celebrities such as Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jenny McCarthy as celebrity endorsements. 
  • Implemented additional lines such as handbags, clutches, dolls for "in progress" marketing launch. 
  • Implemented "go live" in 6 months, securing labor force, permits, equipment and setup.
  • Upgraded  and provided process training and guidance to workers and staff.  Oversaw all aspects of a small business from the design concept, deployment, marketing. advertising, web development, press and media coverage and partnership relationships.

Design responsibility for a Suburban Store carring selections of natural stone tile, ceramic tile, porcelain tile, glass tile, tools & accessories & direct imports. This prouct selection consisted of several tile product lines and manufacturing companies

  • Provided design for kitchen and bath for clients and contractors, focusing on increasing revenues by  balancing product lines, increasing upgrades and monitoring project execution and maximizing overall revenue.
  • Personal efforts resulted in individual monthly revenues of $50,000 within three months,  out performing designers with longer tenure.
  • Created customer loyalty with repeat cutomers and word of mouth referrals.
  • Proposed detailed design and layouts based on contractors and customers building specifications in creative ways to increase the spacial look. 
  • Used selling techniques and color concepts to upsell and upgrade each sale to include higher margin product and at the same time enhance the overall design and uniqueness of the space.

Performed dental hygiene on fearful children and those with special needs.  In addition to the standard responsibilities of the a hygienist I was also responsible for the overall design and layout of the facility.

  • Designed pediatric office.  Each operatory was designed whimsically with a theme of it's own.
  • Chose colors, cartoon characters, eye catching designs to fascinate small children.
  • Children started to ask for particular operatory rooms that were their favorite and that was incorporated into the schedule to ensure that they felt comfortable and were in famaliar surroundings.
  • Varied themes to appeal to specific children afflictions such as autism, ADD and other handicaps.
  • Altered design concepts to accomodate the dental equipment to blend into the room and not be the focus of the room eliminating the fear factor for the children.
  • Closely watched children's reactions to different design concepts and continually improved the "WOW" factor of each room, each child was interested in changes from visit to visit.
