A professional with executive experience, Dawn Johnson has spent more than 20 years working for the United Services Automobile Association (USAA). Dawn Johnson earned an education from Kansas State University in Manhattan, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Mass Communications in 1984. Her well-rounded education led her to start a career at USAA in 1987. Dawn Johnson’s first role within the company was serving as a Marketing Programs Specialist for USAA's Property and Casualty Insurance Group. She quickly advanced through various roles, taking on more responsibility with each promotion.
During her time in the USAA Marketing program, Dawn Johnson was able to implement, direct, and execute the company’s market segmentation strategy. She also developed brand guidelines and various media plans to improve corporate image and identity. From 2001 to 2003, Dawn Johnson served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of USAA Financial Planning Services. During her time in this role, Dawn Johnson was focused on launching financial planning services as a core competency of the association. After successful implementation with USAA Financial Planning Services, she left the department to serve as the President and Chief Executive Officer of USAA Alliance Services. In this role, she was focused on developing various strategies that tied to the mission of the association and provided an added benefit to USAA membership.
Finally, Dawn Johnson served as the company's Chief Marketing Officer and Executive Vice President, overseeing the market growth and product development strategy for each of USAA's subsidiaries. In each role at USAA, Dawn Johnson has focused her efforts on improving corporate structure, improving corporate profitability, and developing a brand identity inside and outside of the company.
