A global citizen, David Topolewski embraces the social business concept. While traditional businesses operate to make a profit, they do not generally address society’s important issues, so governments and charities fill that gap. A social business operates specifically to address issues to alleviate suffering and enable communities to function more efficiently. Mr. Topolewski serves as CEO of Qooco in Beijing, which offers interactive training in spoken Mandarin and English aimed at student populations in underserved areas. David Topolewski also works with other social businesses to aid in breaking the cycle of poverty in Cambodia, China, Indonesia, and the Philippines, and supports the One Laptop per Child program. In Bangladesh, Mr. Topolewski collaborates with nursing colleges established by the Grameen Foundation to empower women through the creation of an educational social business. Mr. Topolewski strongly supports mobile learning and endeavors to spread the development of blended learning models, which utilize both teachers and technology. A member of the Applied Voice Input/Output Society and the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages, David Topolewski also belongs to Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, Inc., which promotes the highest standards in the teaching of English as a second language. Mr. Topolewski also maintains membership in the Beijing chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, Church of Our Saviour, and Beijing International Christian Fellowship. David Topolewski assists AkarakA, which aids children and young adults living in poor communities in obtaining formal education, and The Grameen Creative Lab, a promoter of the social business concept that works to alleviate the world’s most pressing social problems. At Yale University, David Topolewski earned a Bachelor of Arts with distinction in Economics. He completed a Master of Business Administration in Finance with Concentrations in Management and Operations at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Qooco, Mr. Topolewski accepted positions in corporate finance, boutique investment banking, the product sales and services industries, and the interactive entertainment business.
