Currently the Senior Director of Business Conduct with Gilead Sciences, Inc., a global biotechnology group committed to the research and treatment of life-threatening conditions, David Ralston brings more than 15 years of experience in law and health care. At the helm of a multidisciplinary team of five lawyers and three compliance professionals, Mr. Ralston works to uphold the firm’s dedication to ethics in health care and compliance with FDA mandates while providing sales and marketing support to the company and its associates.Prior to joining the company in March of 2011, Mr. Ralston acted as Section Head in charge of the Legal Regulatory and Compliance group of Abbott Laboratories in Abbott Park, Illinois. Within his position, David Ralston offered strategic counseling and leadership to the business in several regards. As well as supervising the medical and pharmaceutical products divisions in matters concerning the Office of the Inspector General and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, Mr. Ralston guided company lawyers dealing in pricing, contracting, and privacy. An adept manager and valued employee, Mr. Ralston earned the Division President’s Award in his first year with Abbott Laboratories.David Ralston possesses a rich educational background as well as experience in demanding roles at legal and pharmaceutical ventures. After graduating from the Plan II Honors Program at The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts, Mr. Ralston continued his studies at The University of Houston, earning a Juris Doctor with an emphasis in health law and receiving the Distinguished Student Award at graduation.  While at Law School, David concurrently enrolled in the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in the Masters of Public Health Program. As a graduate student of Health Care Regulatory specialty within the program, he authored a thesis entitled “Regulatory Barriers to Adequate Treatment of Pain,” which the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners later considered while drafting new regulations.David Ralston formerly held positions as an Associate at Texas-based law firm Jenkens & Gilchrist and Senior Legal Director at pharmaceuticals corporation Schering-Plough, now known as Merck & Co., Inc., located in Kenilworth, New Jersey. An engaged member of the legal community, Mr. Ralston is actively involved with the American Bar Association and the American Health Lawyers Association.
