About Me

Hi, I am David Kinard -- a senior marketing professional with significant career experience in education and non profit marketing. My expertise is in strategic planning, integrated marketing communications, technology integration, and field management. I've been recognized for creative contributions and thought leadership by national media, and am a regular MBA faculty and conference/keynote speaker. My key strengths include: strategic, futurism, communications, focus, and significance.

President, VP of Marketing, VP of Sponsorship, Puget Sound Chapter AMA (top 10 in the U.S.), won awards for membership growth, leadership, programming, and fundraising; Member, AMA Professional Chapters Council; managed dozens of field partners nationwide to award-winning recognition. Developed nationwide business scorecard for chapter health. Led annual Leadership Summit training 300+ leaders. Served as AMA Foundation liaison assisting chapters in supporting non profits in their marketing efforts. 2004 - 2008

Director of Partnership Development (September 2008 - November 2008; I was laid off)

Responsible for development of partnerships (strategic, marketing, and community) with direct budget impact exceeding $1 million. Early stage discussions with Disney, Adobe, Microsoft, LEGO, and others.

Director of Marketing (four direct reports, agency/vendor management - November 2004 - August 2008)

Reporting to CEO, pioneered marketing strategy and plan with senior-level responsibility for all corporate communications, brand management, new customer demand generation, and department/ vendor management. P&L exceeded $1.2 million. Scope of marketing activities covered multiple divisions for national technology education services company. Results include achieving multi-year, double digit growth in revenues and market share, launching new on/offline products, built marketing dashboard and scorecards, and achieved Best Company status from culture development.

  • Managed all internal company communications including monthly meetings, newsletter, board communications, and employee recognition program.
  • Served key role in corporate vision/mission/values clarification. Responsible for linking culture to brand and team development

Used Balanced ScorecardTM to differentiate value for national client organizations. Emphasis on stakeholder value, branding, membership development, and communication programs. Spoke at conventions before audiences of 2,500+. Clients included AMA, NACRRA, ASAE, MPI, MSAE, OSAM, WSCPA, and others.

  • Increased membership 19% for NAPMW by launching and optimizing competitive products.
  • Concepted and deployed custom CRM packages, created customer messaging campaigns utilizing CRM tool based on segmentation and product positioning strategies.

Developed marketing publications producing more than 1 million direct mail pieces, and created marketing operations management systems. Devised brand guides and CRM system for entire non profit institution.
