Overall leadership of the design, communication and roll out of EDF Energy’s sustainability strategy, working in a matrix structure to deliver change.
Collaboration with Business Units to develop action plans in line with business objectives, assure delivery, engage employees and communicate performance. Responsible for the internal sustainability governance system and sustainability reporting.
Developing the skills and behaviours of employees to create a culture of sustainability.
Monitoring emerging sustainability innovations and integrating them into the business.
The design, implementation and monitoring of the community investment strategy, including charity partnerships and safe employee volunteering activities.
Promoting EDF Energy’s reputation externally: speaking at conferences and managing stakeholder relationships.
A team of five and a budget of £700k.
·Developed industry-leading sustainability strategy and commitments. EDF Energy is perceived by the public to be the most sustainable energy company.
·Improved EDF Energy’s score in the BITC CR Index from 75% to 99% in four years gaining Platinum Plus status and becoming sector leader.
·Achieved a double-digit reduction in carbon emissions and waste.
·Fostered a highly collaborative way of working across business functions.
·Built and animated a network of sustainability Ambassadors across the company. Developed an e-community for EDF Energy’s Ambassadors and community volunteers.
·Signed charity partnerships with Global Action Plan and MS Society.
·Member of Steering Committee for BITC Visioning the Future Project.
