Bachelor's of Russian Language and Literature

  • Completed a summer program in the Critical Languages Institute with a 4.15. The program was an 8 week intensive course providing an academic year's worth of language instruction.
  • Completed a History of Slavic Languages course that provided an introduction to the functional differences between Slavic languages, the origins of those differences, and crash-course education in Polish and Serbo-Croatian.
  • Completed a Grammar and Lexicology course which established fundamentals of translation. Course involved the translation of numerous works by Chekhov and exams were translations of news articles (without the help of reference materials).
  • Completed a Russian for Heritage Speakers course with a B+.
  • Learned basics of computing and programming in Slavic languages.
  • Fine-tuned understanding of Russian mass media.
  • Honed translation skills in a capstone Russian Short Stories course. Works translated included a selection from: Pushkin, Gogol, Turgenev, Tolstoy, and Chekhov. The course included extensive discussion and written work in Russian.
