Leading a high performing facilities management team, insuring that the infrastructure of over 4 million square feet of distribution centers are safe and effective for world class operation on a daily basis. These 12 facilities are located throughout North America. Budget, research, design and implement all aspects necessary to achieve safe operations while maintaining continuous improvement utilizing Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
Served as the project lead on a multimillion dollar disaster recovery effort when a tornado hit the company’s largest distribution center in North America. This effort required extreme coordination of every aspect of the business to insure a safe but rapid return to operation. Facility functionality was restored in 3 weeks, full operation in 6 months with zero injuries during the process.
PDC manager of the Portland Parts Distribution Center, with responsibility for the general management of the 250,000 square foot location. This new start up incorporated multiple brands within one facility to provide best in class performance and delivery to our customer base within the Pacific Northwest.
I assisted with the building design/infrastructure, production layout and was a part of the initial interviewing team for the core group of on site management as well as warehouse associates. This start up came in on time and under budget by over a million dollars.
Our facility had zero lost time/recordable injuries during my assignment there, in addition to achieving world class performance within the key areas of quality, productivity and inventory control. This performance has enabled us to consistently lead North American operations in a success share program that rewarded our associates for exceptional performance. During this time period the Portland PDC was awarded the top performing distribution center within the North American division in the three key metrics of Safety, Quality and Productivity.
Led the Portland facility on a tote return project, initially beta testing and then rolling out a program which has resulted in over $4 million savings annually for North American operations while reducing landfill demand as well as our carbon footprint.
Responsible for the start up and operation of a 500,000 square foot facility. Initially working as on site engineer during the design and build phase. Transitioning to Operations Manager upon completion of the building. Played a key role in the merger of three major facilities into one, completing the project ahead of schedule and under budget. This facility was the second largest distribution facility in North America for CNH with annual line volumes approaching three million. Helped to interview and hire the management and core associate team of 60 that trained and implemented the initial start up.
Interviewed, hired , evaluated, supervised employees in Equipment and Facilities Maintenance. Indirect budgeting of $11 million in payroll, Directly managed payroll of $1 million. Responsibility for all equipment and the facility infrastructure, producing over $65 million in product annually, direct project responsibility for helping multiple facilities within North America and the United Kingdom achieve capital project completions.
Working and interacting across all levels of the organization to achieve business objectives. Strong use of analytical skills for improving process flow and reducing downtime on equipment. Established a predictive maintenance program to maximize up-time on major facility components and press equipment operated within a 24 hour environment.
Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA and DNR regulations
Provide technical resources, timely and effective support to all departments within the local facility as well as multiple facilities within the United States, Canada and UK
Established a program in which the facility consistently ranked as the top risk managed facility during annual audits within a group of more than 20 production facilities.
Design and/ coordinate new plant layouts, pre-working projects with multiple sites, insuring minimal downtime.
Managed and coordinated internal staff with multiple outside contractors to merge two facilities on an extremely aggressive timeline.
