I have worked in a number of IT roles including IT Manager, Team Leader, Project Manager and Technical Consultant over the past 25 years.I have advanced technical skills with servers, desktops, communications equipment, project management and strategic information planning.In addition, I have over 10 years experience in delivering IT training in many varied environments from one-on-one situations, classroom environments and to small groups of adults in a rural environment in Vanuatu.
I believe my team work skills and leadership have been well developed and demonstrated in many diverse situations in government, eduction and private enterprise organisations. My general management and financial management skills are well developed and I have had responsibilities for budgets of AUD$1 million. I have excellent written skills and have produced numerous manauals, reports and technical publications.

Technical Support Specialist
This contract involved providing planning, technical support and logistics for departments moving into the new state of the art – Queensland Emergency Operations Centre. The project tasks I am responsible for include the installation and configuration of servers, network printers, Thin Clients, PCs, fax machines, IP Phones, software and the relocation of staff from outlying offices. I also performed a series of benchmarks against the VMWare ESX environment to verify that the infrastructure was capable of supporting 300 thin clients. I assisted other projects by imaging computers and writing scripts to automate the imaging process.

Country Manager for Datec (Vanuatu) Ltd, part of the Datec Pacific Islands group that operate across the Pacific Islands. Manage sales and support for the authorised IBM and HP service dealer in Vanuatu and five full-time engineers. The other part of my role was that of Chief Operations Officer for the group which included operational responsibility for the branches in Vanuatu, Solomon Islands and Samoa.

As IT/Business adviser my challenge was to establish a new “Business and IT Centre” at the Vanuatu Institute of Technology.This role involved the refurbishment of two building wings into new computer labs and classrooms, equipping the labs, writing and accrediting courses, training teachers, mentoring the IT Co-ordinator to run the Business & IT Centre and delivering a wide range of IT courses.Funded by AusAID, this project not only exceeded it’s objectives but was completed on time and on budget.

As Technical Trainer (Victoria) for the Hills group of companies, I prepared training material and delivered training in CCTV products.I spent a large proportion of my short time at Hills planning the new training centre in Melbourne, gathering training resources, completing a training needs analysis and adapting existing resources for delivery Australia wide.I was also trained on CCTV and alarm/security systems. I reluctantly left Hills to take on a challenging project in Vanuatu

Full time teacher in the Advanced Diploma of Computer of Computer Systems Engineering,. Subjects taught include Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, CompTIA A+, Fundamentals of UNIX, Fundamentals of Wireless Networks, Project Management, Communications and Help Desk.I wrote grant submissions in 2004 and 2005 which were successful in gaining over $90,000 of equipment grants for our student labs.I also gained accreditation for the Institute as a Prometric test centre.In 2005 I implemented an Online Learning System (Moodle) that is now used extensively by teachers in the department.

I spent 4½; months in Vanuatu during 2004, designing and implementing a campus wide Local Area Network and delivering a number of training courses (MS Office, Internet, Local Area Networks, Network+, Server 2003, Smoothwall firewall).I assisted the Institute to become accredited as an International Computer Drivers Licence training centre.I returned in 2005 and later in 2006 to provide further technical support and training to the IT staff at the Institute.

Provided specialist communications advice and technical support for a range of projects including a Keno system, GIS integration project, Information Security consultancy, designed a campus wide integrated voice and data cabling system, and migrated the Transport and Works Dept. across to the state wide Cisco WAN.
