  • Responsible for all U.S. and Canada consumer marketing including development of in-store promotions and tactics for Tender Corporation, Makers of Market Leading Food, Drug, Mass & Outdoor Channel Brands. 
  • Interface directly with sales, product managers and entire company in general, communicating consumer marketing initiatives to build all brands and launch new products. 
  • Direct creative services and outside agencies.
  • Track, measure and report the results of consumer promotions and sampling programs.
  • Coordinate company IRI/Nielson data, providing analysis and competitive insights.  
  • For 2012, negotiated new partnership programs with the American Hiking Society and Boston Red Sox, all driving new in-store promotions, retail sell in initiatives and ongoing brand building.  
  • Created consumer web photo contests - - with over 275K online voters in April-August 2011, and 500K planned for 2012. 

Marketing & Communications Director

World Harbors
  • Directed all marketing, advertising, public relations, product development and agency management for World Harbors, the leading specialty food brand of the sauce and marinade category, distributed to retail stores throughout the United States and in international markets. 
  • Created "Look Local" web recipe contest, awarding local Maine prizes to consumers around the U.S. who entered recipes using our sauces or marinades, and ingredients found near where they live.

Digital Flannel Marketing Agency
  • Managed client services, directed marketing strategy and planned/negotiated and bought regional and national media for King Arthur Flour, Okemo Ski & Summer Mountain Resort and other companies.
  • Directed King Arthur Flour’s “Baking Across America” campaign featuring national television (Food Network, PBS), print (Everyday Food, Eating Well, Sunset, Bon Appetit, and others), web, PR, e-newsletters and grassroots initiatives to increase market share for all natural and new organic baking mixes and flours.

Brand Manager

King Arthur Flour Company
  • Directed consumer marketing and in-store strategy of all flours (including new Organic line) and baking mixes when company brands moved up to #1 positions in U.S. sales, and annual revenues rose from $35M to record increases over $55M. In 2006 and 2007 King Arthur Flour was named the Vermont Company of the Year.
  • Hired and managed all outside agencies, leading brand strategy, research, creative development, ad production (print, television, FSIs, POP, web, sales materials), trade and consumer shows.
  • Negotiated A.C. Nielsen contract and reported on consumer insights to set brand strategies including annual marketing, sales and new product development plans. 
  • Directed PR and Events Departments, increasing national baking class grassroots tours from under 90 classes to over 150 per year by bringing in $20K sponsors such as Stonyfield Farm yogurt, Red Star yeast, Cabot cheese and others. Over 200-550 enthusiastic customer guests attended each free class. Also arranged for King Arthur brands to be on the Martha Stewart Show, PBS’ Ciao Italia, Food Network and at hundreds of fairs and food events.
  • Speaker on Organic Food Trends at Expo West Natural Products Show, Anaheim, CA; Vermont Travel Industry Conference, Stowe, VT, and other engagements.
  • Founding member of the International Whole Grains Council. Served as board member for the U.S. Home Baking Association and Vermont Specialty Foods Association. Company contact to International Association of Culinary Professionals.

Director of Marketing

Loon Mountain Ski & Summer Resort

  • Directed all marketing, sales, public relations, special events for New Hampshire’s most visited resort, annually increasing market share versus other ski industry and outdoor recreation competitors.
  • Negotiated Lincoln/Mercury promotion for fleet of company vehicles and $2M-plus annual ad sponsorship promoting Loon Mountain as “New England’s Premier Mountain Resort.” Also directed marketing partnerships with Dunkin’ Donuts, M&M/MARS, Stonyfield Farm, Ben & Jerry’s and other companies.
  • Developed a new shared season pass program with Waterville Valley and Cranmore Mountain Resorts, naming it the “Threedom Pass” and accomplishing record sales.
  • Hired and managed outside agencies, directing all company advertising and brand strategies.
  • Industry Awards: Crisis PR Handler of the Year, Best Internet Marketing, and Best Strategic Alliances/Sponsorships.
  • Represented company on SKI/New Hampshire Marketing Board, Eastern Ski Writers Association and other leadership positions.
  • Company spokesman conducting over one hundred media interviews, including USA Today, New York Times, Boston Globe and New England television segments.

  • Author of four books: Colorado Tours, The History of King Arthur Flour, University of Wisconsin Football, and University of Wisconsin Basketball. 
  • Raised $4,000 and completed the Montreal to Portland AIDS bike ride, plus several other charity rides.
