Task Leader, Embedded and GUI Software Engineer - "Maelstrom"
Software task lead and sole developer for embedded audio collection system and accompanying configuration & control GUI for the Special Programs office. Embedded application written in C for an Atmel XMEGA MCU, interfacing with an FPGA for high-speed, low-power data capture, and a TI DSP for USB data transfer to C&C GUI. GUI written in C# using the .NET framework v3.5 and leveraging DSCAF. Both products delivered ahead of schedule and under budget.
Technical Director, Software Task Lead, Software Architect and Developer - “Smart Actuators”
Developed a fieldable Anrdoid-based system for mobile configuration and control of embedded sensor systems using Wi-Fi and host-mode USB connections (required device rooting and use of Android NDK). Responsible for all aspects of technical task execution including budgeting, staffing, task planning and monitoring, software architectural design, software development and testing, oversight of hardware and packaging design and production, formal test execution and diagnosis, and customer status reporting.

Working independently and in small teams developing multiple, mature desktop Graphical User Interface (GUI) applications using .NET/C# for fieldable surveillance systems for the special programs office.

Developing an Android app and accompanying RESTful RoR web service w/JSON API for peer-to-peer video-conferencing. Load-balanced, autoscaling web service hosted on AWS, using RDS for database tier (Postgres), and Amazon SNS for mobile push notifications.
InvestorSpeak (April 2013 - May 2014)
Developed a prototype, semi-public social network to facilitate communication among institutional investors. Prototype capabilities included registration, user profile creation, avatar upload/edit, searching for users, creating connections/friends, direct-messaging users, a global activity feed, status updates, web link sharing (with preview), and accessing a companion "help desk" portal using SSO. Website built with Ruby (v1.9.3) on Rails (v4), Twitter Bootstrap, secure authentication, RSpec/Guard for automated testing, and jQuery/AJAX for dynamic behavior. Hosted on AWS Elastic Beanstalk with RDS (MySQL), Cloudfront asset distribution, and SES for bulk/transactional emails.
RentSimple (July 2011 - April 2013)
Provided website development consulting services to a real estate startup based in Boston. Assisted client in defining and refining requirements, UI design, and project management using Agile tools. Implemented the site using a Ruby on Rails/Apache/Passenger/MySQL stack and deployed to Amazon EC2 with S3 for storage.
