The Bay Area Pain and Spine Institute opened in 2004, with pain management specialist Darien Behravan as its lead physician. The Institute provides services for patients dealing with chronic and acute pain, and Darien Behravan performs minimally invasive spinal surgeries and spinal injections for his clients.Graduating from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, Darien Behravan received his Doctoral degree in Medicine in 1996. During his college career, Darien Behravan was President of the Phi Sigma Biological Sciences Honor Society for two years and was a member of the Delta Phi Alpha National German Honorary Society, Alpha Epsilon Delta, and as well as Alpha Omega Alpha honor. As a physician who previously struggled with his own chronic pain, Darien Behravan believes that treatment of pain should involve alternative and holistic approaches to produce results that traditional therapy and medicine cannot. Darien Behravan encourages his patients to participate in mind/body exercises like yoga, deep breathing, and cognitive therapy because he wants to teach them how to overcome their pain, not simply live with it.Darien Behravan is an Associate Producer for a chronic pain documentary series. The series of 36 segments, each 23-minutes long, focuses on different aspects of chronic pain. Darien Behravan and the rest of the crew have a mission to raise awareness of the issues involved in chronic pain management, treatment, and recovery.A community-minded individual, Darien Behravan frequently volunteers to promote community health awareness. He contributes to orphanages in South America and the Middle East.Darien Behravan is a medical professional who uses his personal and professional experience to help clients move past their chronic and acute pain symptoms. His work spans nearly 20 years, and he is invited to speak as a guest lecturer at pain management workshops and conferences frequently.When he is not practicing his passion in Medicine he is playing tennis, hiking and snow boarding. He is also involved with Medical device research and development and has been instrumental in development of functional Anesthetic discography, a new medical device FDA approved for diagnosis of back pain.
