Duties

Troubleshooting, test, and component level repair of AMR (Automatic Meter Reading)  meter and substation end solutions, definition and documentation of repair department procedures and processes for ISO 9001 certification, spare parts sales, building text fixtures. Interface with Program Management, QA, and Engineering.

Accomplishments

  • Key member of team that reduced turn around time for repair of RCE (remote comunication equiptment used at the customer end) from over a year to under 30 days.

Duties

Maintain and modify equipment production photograph processing equipment.

Accomplishments

  • Designed the hardware and programmed equipment a custom microcontroller based exposure control l unit used in the print to print process that increased exposure accuracy 10 fold and cut the portion of pictures needing to be reprint by one third. Solution had to interface to existing equipmentand the installations had to be reversible to the original configuration.
  • Designed a stepper motor retrofit for photographic printers that used existingplug in photo mask plates to set the paper feed length so the solution was transparent to the end use but resulted in the average time between paper feed systemmaintenance from every other week to one or twice a year.
  • Found and implemented a solution to replace photo lamp power supplies that were obsolete that was one forth the cost and lengthened bulb life from 2 weeks to 6 months on average.

 Design of TVRO (Television Receive Only) antenna positioning equiptment, development of test fixturesand procedures, documentation of processes, bill of materials, approved vendor lists. Liaisonbetween purchasing, manufacturing test, customer service, and engineering.

Accomplishments

  • Designed 2 successfulpositioners and developed a receiver interface that was inexpensive and interfaced with a very wide range of TVRO receivers.
  • Designed and fabricated rent fixtures for all company products.
  • Established bill of material and approved vendor lists.
  • Managed the Customer Service department.
  • Last person the owner laid off before closing the plant due to being able and willing to do whatever was needed.

  • Increased effective range of IR remote control from less than 10 feet to over 50.

Duties

Alignment,  test, component  level  repair  of through hole and surface mount PCB assemblies, building and testing prototypes, text fixtures. 

Accomplishments

  •  Established test procedures and standards for a test department of 14 technicians.
  •  Manufactured and calibrated LNA (Low Noise microwave Amplifier), LNB (LNA Block down convert) , and LNC  (a combination of an LNA and single channel down converter) test fixtures that decreased test and repair time by two thirds.
  • Developed  the  prototypes  for  the  dual  LNB and  dual amplified microwave splitters. 
  • Determined the pattern and phase center on prototype parabolic relector feed horn assemblies.

Duties

Alignment, test, and component level repair of thru hole and surface mount electro aircarft navigation equiptment cotaining a microwave transponder.

Accomplishments

  •  Set a record of 30 KN62A aligned, repaired, and with 100% passing final QA and auto test. in a single shift. At the time the average was 6 units per person per shift.
  • Repaired 4 units that had been in house for 3 years without anyone being able to complete repairs. The units would short out the test fixture requiring it to also need repair.
