Throughout a career in business and the law that has spanned nearly three decades, Dan Kazanas has established himself as a leader in diverse fields, including strategic consulting, the millwork and buildings materials industry, renewable energy, and legal practice. Over the course of his professional development, Dan Kazanas has held a number of executive management positions.

Dan J. Kazanas currently functions as Managing Director for ideaRELAY LLC, a product development and technology transfers company. His responsibilities with the firm include actively monitoring, and periodically being requested to scrutinize, scientific advances that need professional guidance to be transferred into commercially viable technology-based products or processes. He also aids in the internal management of the technology partnerships and holds a close relationship with the partnering entities to develop common values, update the technologies’ processes, and monitor the production quality standards according to the terms of these partnerships. Additionally, he ensures that ideaRELAY is the backbone of this technology transfer process to ensure the transfer’s durability and long-term success.

To support his career with ideaRELAY, Dan Kazanas belongs to Advanced Energy Economy, a collaboration of professionals dedicated to the energy industry. In addition, Dan Kazanas holds memberships with Technology Transfer – Valorisation; Technology Commercialization; Technology Transfer Network; and Knowledge transfer and monetization.

Dan Kazanas is also enrolled to earn the Certified Patent Valuation Analyst designation, which will provide him with professional recognition as an expert in Valuation of Emerging Technologies and Patents; Negotiating Licensing Agreements for Maximum Returns; Advanced Patent Valuation; and Calculating Damages Resulting from Patent Infringement.

Previously, Dan Kazanas spent nine years as the President of O’Neil Lumber and Millwork, a building materials dealer and mill shop in St. Louis. He held a range of management responsibilities at this mid-size operation that served customers from two locations in Missouri and Illinois. During Dan Kazanas’ tenure with the company, O’Neil experienced rapid growth. He ensured this growth through accurate management of financial planning and analysis and through the offering of value-added services and specialty products, even during periods of economic recession. He offered further protection to the firm’s well being by identifying risks in policies and projects.

Although presently in management consulting, Dan Kazanas spent the first part of his career as an attorney in St. Louis. His practice focused on business and real estate law as well as mergers and acquisitions, corporate-partnership and alternative entities, franchising, and commercial litigation.

Dan Kazanas attended the University of Missouri and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Dan Kazanas also possesses a Juris Doctor from the Saint Louis University School of Law.

Dan Kazanas in addition contributes his time to community service and is the Co-Founder of the Hellenic Spirit Foundation and a Chairman of Board Development and Governance Committee of the ALS Association of Greater St. Louis.
