User Support Analyst II

The Office of Research at UNM Health Sciences Center

the University of New Mexico conducts medical research aimed at impacting the health of communities in New Mexico and elsewhere. I worked as the sole departmental IT resource for approximately 70 staff members.

  • Provided a range of desktop support, from software to hardware and networking issues. Aided in departmental purchasing decisions for hardware and software, while also managing our software licensing.
  • Provided consultation to management regarding purchases of hardware and software. Imaged, upgraded and deployed new and old computers to staff.
  • Responded to IT security requests on malware flagged IP's within the network.
  • Created fully encrypted laptops with TrueCrypt for use off-site, by staff, to store confidential patient information.
  • Helped build a new Access database for managing and storing our vast and often changing inventory of computers and medical equipment.Was in charge of populating and maintaining the information.
  • Wrote detailed documentation for backups and the VPN client. Maintained Office of Research websites for content using Microsoft Expression Web.

The Institute of Public Law(IPL) at the
University of New Mexico School of Law engages in research, analysis, teaching, training, writing and publishing to support the development of informed public policy and law. User Support Analyst 1 Support of software, hardware and network issues for an office environment of~ 40 users. Includes web conferencing with distance employees in Texas and New York. Managed users and computers in Windows Server using Active Directory. Reimaged new and old desktops and laptops. Aligned various settings and standards between IPL software and procedure with the Law School. Tracked and completed individual tickets using the Spiceworks ticket system. Installed and maintained network printers..
