Philanthropist Dana Hammond has provided much-needed support to a number of charities that support the arts, health, and education. Ms. Hammond patronizes many museums in New York City, including the Museum of the City of New York, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Museum of Modern Art, the American Museum of Natural History, and the Guggenheim Museum. Ms. Hammond also donates to Creative Time, a New York-based program developed to provide artists with the means of producing art for the public space. Additionally, Dana Hammond provides funding to the American Theatre Wing, which is best known for creating the Tony Awards, and the School of American Ballet. Dana Hammond commits much of her support to hospitals and health organizations. She patronizes the Southampton Hospital, the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, New York Presbyterian Hospital, and Silver Hill Hospital. A number of institutions dedicated to curing disease receive Ms. Hammond’s assistance as well, including the Alzheimer’s Association, the Hope for Depression Research Foundation, the Melanoma Research Alliance, and the Cancer Research Institute. Many universities and other educational institutions receive funding from Dana Hammond, including Hayground School, Trinity School, Trinity College, the University of Pennsylvania, and New York University. A number of other social organizations rely on donors such as Dana Hammond. She supports Save Venice, a New York-based program that has collected more than $20 million to restore artwork from Venice, Italy. She patronizes City Meals on Wheels, which provides meals to seniors who have difficulty leaving their home. Ms. Hammond also donates to the Wildlife Conservation Society and the New York Botanical Garden.
