American Dance Festival

Directs incoming calls.  Manages mail distribution for over 400 hundred festival participants. Implemented new mail notification system via email to increase efficiency and expedite faculty/student mail delivery.  Oversees staff assistant training and manages schedules.  Acts as concierge to organization donors, festival tour visitors, students, faculty, and guest artists.  Facilitates relocation of ADF offices to/from Duke University East Campus.

HU/ADF MFA Thesis Coordinator & HU MFA Dance Administrative Assistant

Hollins University/American Dance Festival (HU/ADF)

Coordinated Thesis Presentations for over 30 MFA candidates. Devised space request system and managed rehearsal/performance schedules. Acted as liaison between MFA offices and the ADF Production Director.  Oversaw the production and editorial process of publicity materials for MFA Thesis Presentations at ADF. Wrote position handbook and office protocols manual. Facilitated the transfer of HU Offices from HU to ADF and vice versa.

Acted as assistant to MFA Director in initial planning and launch of undergraduate internship program and annual MFA NYC Retreat & MFA Summer Abroad Program.  Assembled schedules, course/teaching charts and rosters, generated time-sensitive informational emails to guest artists and students, devised system to track and collect all documents required per student for MFA study abroad program (visas, passports, health forms, waivers, etc).  Served as primary liaison between MFA students, Graduate Programs Director, HU Career Center, HU International Offices, and MFA Director.  Oversaw thesis binding processes, coordinated all department special events, and standardized archival process.  Arranged travel, housing, and meetings for 2014-2015 MFA Selection Panel and guest artists throughout the academic year.  Chaperoned  student trip to ACDFA 2014 at George Mason University.  Acted as deputy stage manager for student works presented.

AmeriCorps/Washington Reading Corps

Supervised 30-50 students during after-school programs for children K-5 five days per week at two elementary schools.  Developed after-school program learning enrichment curriculum. Conducted reading interventions and performed benchmark assessments for students K-5 during regular school hours.  Responsible for coordinating field trips, family nights, and special events.  Devised strategies for volunteer recruitment and management.

Teaching Experience

Teaching Assistant: Beat Generation, English Department, Hollins Univeristy [2013]

Facilitated classroom discussions and guest lectured on topics pertaining to feminism within the historical context of the Beat Generation and as portrayed in Beat film.  Scheduled regular individual meetings with students to mentor creative process and provide feedback on final creative projects worth 60% of final grade. 

Site Assistant & Teaching Artist: Roanoke Parks & Recreation [2010]

Innitiated after-school arts program in dance & creative writing, and taught ballet for beginners to a class of nine children ages six to twelve.

Reviewed and edited all submissions to literary journal.  Collaborated with fellow editors to revitalize publication through redesign.  Advocated for additional funds in order to upgrade to color print and options for alternative publishing layouts in order to expand literary content to include experimental poetry.  Designed publication layout using Microsoft Publisher.

Worked with a team of peers and Hollins staff to prepare for and implement events during orientation week.  Led information sessions and tours for incoming students.  Advised  transfer students throughout the academic year.
