About Dan Sparks, SG Capital

The current chief executive officer and founding partner of Shelter Growth Capital Partners, Dan Sparks is a leader in the fixed-income securities and mortgage sectors. He earned a bachelor of business administration in finance and accounting from Texas A&M University before launching his career at Goldman, Sachs & Co, where he joined the Fixed Income Division and eventually became the head of the Mortgage Department. While at the firm, Dan Sparks also gained invaluable experience with structured product finance, asset-backed securities, and emerging debt markets, knowledge that has helped him to provide superior services to clients. Assuming responsibility for the company’s subsidiaries, he sat on the boards and advisory committees of Litton Loan Servicing, Archon Financial, Senderra, and Avelo Mortgage. When he left the firm in 2008, he held the titles of partner and managing director.

After leaving the company, he founded DLS Advisors, which he managed for several years before establishing Shelter Growth Capital Partners with Kevin Gasvoda and Justin Mahoney. The latter firm, based in Stamford, Connecticut, offers investment management services and focused mortgage products. Dan Sparks and his partners use a unique system for identifying investments with the potential to meet client goals within accepted risk parameters.

Outside of work, Dan Sparks continues his involvement with his alma mater. He has spoken before the Mays Business School at Texas A&M and sat on the advisory board of the school’s finance department. In addition, he served on the Board of Trustees of the 12th Man Foundation, an athletic booster club.
