Senior Vice President, Global Systems, Networking, EITM and Production Support

Elavon (formerly;Nova Information Systems)

Reporting to the CIO, currently provides executive leadership and technical vision, directing all enterprise application support, enterprise voice and data networking, tactical service desk support, computer operations, systems programming and systems administration for the global organization currently processing in 5 states in the US, Canada and 5 European countries.

§Currently leading an organization of 200+ worldwide. Annual capital budget 10M+, O/E 15M+.

§Led the development of an integrated global infrastructure processing environment involving 5 major US cities and 5 European countries, enterprise voice/data networks and complex enterprise systems.

§Led infrastructure consolidation effort implementing virtualization technologies in the SUN, Intel and mainframe environments utilizing VMWARE and blade technologies. This resulted in a 70% reduction in hardware footprints, a 30% reduction in data center cooling and power requirements and significant reductions in provisioning timeframes. This infrastructure includes Stratus, Tandem, SUN, Linux, Windows and IBM Mainframe ZOS, EMC & HP Storage technologies.

§Led infrastructure and data remedial efforts that resulted in successful year over year compliance with, CISP/PCI, GLBA and OCC audit requirements, included all levels of data encryption, multi-layered firewall infrastructure, two factor authentication, system upgrades, policies, processes and automation relative to systems service management. 

§Implemented ITIL based tactical support model, and automation of tactical support and operations and consolidated tactical support and computer operations, into an integrated Systems Management Facility. Fully implemented CA Unicenter Suite and automated incident/problem, asset, change, release, performance, service level management processes. Fully automated distributed batch processing and software delivery processes.

§Directed the development and delivery of a series of new applications Single-point of Service (SPS), Single-Point of Entry (SPoE), Risk Management System (ARMS) as well as the development of Web based, client facing applications.

§Directed the successful conversion of over 750,000 merchants to the Elavon processing platform.

§Directed the development of key application solutions in the credit underwriting and customer care organizations utilizing J2EE, WebSphere, ETL and EAI technologies. Led the effort to convert development to the SOA architecture, building a library of reusable objects.

§Directed project efforts to re-engineer the project management, quality assurance and production support processes, tools and organization to PMP level standards as well as Agile and standard development approaches.

§Successfully manage a staff of 90+ programming, management, quality assurance, database administration and production support staff.

Reporting to the SVP of IT, provided executive leadership and technical vision, directing strategic planning efforts associated with the processing infrastructure that serves clients and subscribers in the electronic bill presentment and payment space.

§Was instrumental in the re-design of the voice and data networking solutions, CRM, CTI and IVR technologies associated with the customer care organization resulting in a projected savings of 40% over 24 months.

§Was instrumental in the reengineering of the processing infrastructure, organization and process model for the electronic commerce, bill payment and presentment infrastructure resulting in a projected savings of 40% over 24 months.

Vectren Corporation

Reporting to the VP of Information Technology, provided critical technical knowledge, managerial skill, and business leadership, directing an organization of systems, operations, networking and tactical support staff and an annual budget in excess of eleven million dollars.

§Directed the successful design and deployment of a state of the art network that combined voice and data communications and Internet connectivity throughout Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.This resulted in reductions in monthly operational and telecommunications costs of between 15%-20% over 18 months.

§Facilitated and directed the reengineering of I/T tactical support involving the development of management processes, tools and skill base for asset, change, problem, configuration, performance and securitymanagement.This resulted in a 50% improvement in tactical support efficiency.

§Directed the development, implementation and rollout of CRM and WMS projects that required the integration of a complex, multi-tiered application infrastructure that revolutionized the way in which the utility interfaces with customers, develops and manages work and utilizes information. This resulted in a 25% savings in annual labor costs.

§Directed the construction of data center and call center facilities as a result of Vectren merger and acquisitions resulting in the consolidation of infrastructure and operating costs and an average annual savings of 50%.

Reporting to the Principal of Consulting & Services in Indiana, provided principal leadership, as both a manager and project leader, directing a team of consultants and services professionals who engaged in the development of enterprise networking, systems management and systems integration projects for IBM clients. Traveled extensively throughout the U.S. providing both technical and consulting services to companies in the Financial Services, Insurance and Healthcare industries.

§Directed development of comprehensive information systems designs and enterprise networks for domestic and international clients as well as distributed and mainframe systems implementations in the healthcare, insurance, manufacturing and banking industries that resulted in personal utilization in excess of 80% annually and average annual revenues in excess of$2,500,000.00.

§Directed the sale and implementation of IBM Global Network services to domestic and international companies.

Dave Brattain is a seasoned professional in the Information Technology industry with over 26 years of experience. In 1987 Dave joined IBM’s Consulting and Services organization where he worked as a technical consultant. During this time he earned national recognition and was sited in application briefs and publications for his work as an integrator of complex, multi-tiered applications and systems for critical corporate, customer facing solutions and for his work as a consultant and implementer of integrated voice and data network solutions for large domestic and international corporations. Dave’s recent work has been in the financial services industry where he served briefly as the VP of Architecture & Planning with Checkfree Corporation, a major online, Internet based payments processor. In 2002 Dave joined Elavon/Nova Information Systems, a division of USBank and a leader in the global credit card acquiring business. He has held several positions within Elavon/Nova including, those of Senior Vice President of Application Development and Support as well as his current position as Senior Vice President of Global System EITM, Operations and Production Support. Dave holds several university degrees including both a B.S. and an A.A.S. in Applied Information Technology, graduating in 1980 as a Collegiate Scholar from Indiana State University and in 1986 from Indiana’s Vocational & Technical College where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He is also a graduate of the IBM Advanced Business Institute, Harvard Business School, White Plains, N.Y.. Dave is a recipient of numerous IBM Technical Excellence Awards and was a nominee for the Data Center Executive of The Year Award in 2007.
