Summary

As a Math Teacher at Martin High School I created a classroom where students felt safe and free to learn and explore as mathematicians.  In my four years at the school our Math MEAP scores improved every year consistently making AYP.  In my fourth year at Martin the math scores improved dramatically.

As a Math Teacher at Humboldt High School I have established a classroom that is safe and suitable for optimum learning experiences for young people.  For the last two years Humboldt's scores on the Math MCA-II test have improved.  Students feel comfortable and are actively engaged in their learning in my class.

As Head Girl's Basketball Coach at Martin High School I took over a program that had been struggling.  When I came on board they had not won a league game in over two seasons and had won only two games in the previous two years.  Two years after I became Head Coach we finished in third place in the league and the next year Martin was the league champion.

As Assistant Men's Basketball Coach at Bethel University I came on board when Jeff Westlund took over as Head Coach.  For two consecutive seasons we made the MIAC playoffs and had over 15 wins each year.

As an Assistant Boys Basketball Coach at Humboldt HIgh School I was responsible for the defense.  We had the number one rated defense in the St. Paul City League holding teams to 58 points per game.

I believe that the positive learning environments I create for students benefit them and their families, the school, and the community.  Students become actively engaged in the content I teach whether it be mathematics or basketball.  I believe that I can create similar situations of student success at your school.

Thank you for the opportunity.
