Summary

Christopher Stephens has more than a decade of international business development and management experience. With a master’s degree in business administration (MBA) from Duke University and an industrial engineering background, his strengths are in organizing field research, developing and communicating regional strategy and tactics at the field and executive levels, problem-solving in multi-cultural environments, and building long-term regional partnerships. As a US corporate representative and liaison in Japan, he developed an organization from a startup and managed more than one hundred employees and grew annual sales from zero to more than $20M. He established strategic service partnerships with IBM and Hewlett Packard and developed several key client accounts including Sony and Toshiba. His interest in promoting gender equality and development led to the implementation of leadership programs designed for female employees and coordinated with the Gender Equality Bureau and Japanese Labor Bureau. He is an experienced team leader and has worked on several large multinational projects based in Japan, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, South Korea, and China. He is currently a May 2008 candidate for a Master of International Public Policy from The Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies.

Led strategic expansion initiative with a newly-formed software division at Brooks Automation (subsequently acquired by Applied Materials, Inc. in 2007), a $700M technology products and solutions provider to the semiconductor and high-tech markets. Responsible for all operations in Japan including sales, marketing, customer service, channel and partner management, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance. Previously held positions of Director of Sales, Director of Solutions Delivery, and Sales Manager.
