Managed and directed the information technology needs of Iron Mountain’s $25M Intellectual Property Management Group within the Digital Services Division, comprised of two business lines (Corporate Domain Name Management and Technology Escrow).

  • Established and managed the division’s annual IT budget of $3 million.
  • Established the division’s technical direction with executive management, developed a tactical approach to achieving the strategic goals, estimated project costs, and directed the development of project plans.
  • Translated business strategies into information technology solutions, justified and sold those strategies to executive management.
  • Managed over 30 onshore / offshore resources on multiple development and support teams.
  • Launched the first and second fully integrated portlets in the enterprise portal, starting in Vignette and eventually migrating to WebSphere.

  • Designed, developed, and implemented the marketing web site and corporate domain name application.
  • Designed both hardware and software architectures.
  • Migrated the largest corporate domain name customer onto the application in 2003.
  • Assumed instrumental responsibilities in the due diligence effort prior to the sale of Arcemus to Iron Mountain.
  • Managed vendor relationships for all third party tools and services, including integration with domain name registries, Credit Card Processing Gateway, and enforcement services.

Responsible for all aspects of the management and growth of a $2M business unit encompassing three transportation-related software products: an Internet Transportation System (ITS) for commercial use, the DOE Satellite Shipment Tracking System (TRANSCOM) for tracking hazardous materials,  and the Automated Transportation Management System (ATMS), with an overall satellite tracking subsystem.

  • Managed client relations, including both customers and resellers.
  • Negotiated contracts and managed vendors, including Oracle, Rand McNally, SAVVIS, ALK and UPS.
  • Achieved CMMI Level 3 status for the program.
  • Developed a user community responsible for the collaboration of a unified product roadmap.
  • Negotiated the terms and margins of a large reseller agreement, conveying the use of an ITS to a transportation management services client.

  • Identified vendors to manage support functions of the corporate office, including internet connectivity and back-office systems. Identified vendors in support of the ISP Offering which included online training and help desk/support. Led contract negotiations and managed vendors.
  • Identified and integrated new technologies into existing systems as custom portal solutions.
  • Managed the corporate internal networks and systems, including the launch of the corporate intranet.

Managed the design, development and support of the Java-based, multi-tier, e-commerce booking application for National Car Rental ( that allowed customers to reserve cars online, enabling annual bookings of over $150 million.

  • Managed and led a high-performance, 12 person development and support team.
  • Defined a robust system architecture that was highly scalable and redundant.
  • Architected a multi-tier web application capable of supporting over 2000 concurrent users.
  • Successfully launched the site and performance-tuned it to support over 1500 concurrent users.

Various other technology projects from inception to successful completion:

  • Developed a Java applet prototype and transitioned it into Perot Systems’ first Java-based development project.
  • Rescued a development project stuck in the final development and QA stages prior to launch.
  • Architected and developed a strategy to complete a large data conversion effort within the conversion window.
  • Established policies and procedures to regulate the development team during the final stages of development.
  • Designed, developed and supported a Unix-based community banking system ported from RPG to C.
