The Station Arts Centre is a not-for-profit organization where I worked for four summers. Helping organize and run fundraising events with SAC was a rewarding part of my position there. The two main fundraising events that I helped facilitate were the annual rummage sale that supported the children's programs and the community Canada Day Breakfast welcoming roughly 400 to 500 people every year.
I've participated in a few Relay for Life events since 2005 in various roles including volunteer, participant, survivor, and facilitator. In Thunder Bay at Lakehead University I was part of the team that hosted Lakehead's first Relay for Life.
In 2011 I was captain of a small team of cyclists from the Silver Spokes Cycling Club that entered the Ride to Conquer Cancer. It was a two day cycling fundraiser that benefited The Campbell Family Institute at Princess Margaret Hospital. As a team, through canvasing, presentations, a yard sale, and an art action we raised over $14,000. It was a fantastic experience working as a team to prepare and fundraise for this great cause as well as work together to make the two day trek from Toronto to Niagara Falls.
