Masters in Social Science
I am a BSc Psychology and MSSc Criminology graduate and am currently seeking a job within the clinical or forensic fields of psychology.
In 2005 I partook in a program (Business Education Initiative) that allowed me to study for nine months in Alaska. Whilst in America I obtained an A in every class I had except one. These classes where in an area which was relatively unknown to me (Business Administration). This indicates my ability to lend my skills and knowledge to new topics and challenges and that I am a hardworking and extremely motivated individual.
Throughout my university life I have had a keen interest in clinical research. In my final year of my BSc in Psychology I took classes in Behavioral Neuroscience and Psychopharmacology. In these classes I studied the effects of drugs and certain illnesses on the brain, and I found it extremely interesting and enjoyable. As a result I gained some of my highest grades in these classes.
In addition, most of my classes throughout university have required that I conduct some form of research and develop a report based on that research. I had a dissertation to write for both my BSc and MSSc, and a further report to write as a requirement of the BEI (Business Education Initiative). In each of these cases I created a topic of study and developed a process in which to study that topic. For my BSc dissertation and report for the BEI, I created, developed and distributed a questionnaire to students at the university I was studying at. Whilst writing my final reports I used software programs such as Excel, SPSS to run analyses on my findings, and I used Microsoft Word to demonstrate what I had found. I feel fairly confident using each of these programs and can now type approximately 80 words per minute.
From the classes I took whilst studying Psychology and Criminology I recognize and understand the importance of integrity, respect and maturity whilst working with others. I have been employed since I was 16 in an environment where customer service is an extremely important factor and am therefore able to deal with any difficult situations calmly and responsibly. I have been absent from work twice in my six years in retail as a result of illness, and on one of these occasions I consulted a doctor. I am rarely late as I am able to drive and am extremely reliable as I dedicate myself to whatever job or position I am placed in.
