Claudia Mejía-Haffner is an award-winning public relations consultant with a specialty in the U.S. Hispanic market.  Currently, Claudia is a consultant and some of her recent work include projects with MassMutual and The Paley Center for Media.

Managing Director


As Managing Director, I oversaw the New York office and managed program development, implementation and budgets as well as provided strategic counsel for clients including UnitedHealth Group, Target, Johnnie Walker, Jose Cuervo, Buchanan’s, FOX Deportes and Utilisima among others.  For these clients, I oversaw a wide variety of programs including red carpet events, high profile events and sponsorships and media tours. In my role, I worked with JeffreyGroup’s President on long-term strategic planning and forecasting, prospecting and new business.  In the new business front, I was instrumental in helping the agency win the Target, TD Bank and Perfumania accounts.  I also put systems in place across all New York accounts, managed a team and oversaw performance reviews, career advancement, salaries and new hires.  My strategic and team management efforts were instrumental in helping TD Bank receive a PRSA Silver Anvil Award of Excellence for TuDinero con TD program in the spring of 2014.

As Vice Preside of Axis' New York office , I managed a cross-office team on various public relations programs geared to the Hispanic market.  I also provided strategic counsel, managed client relations, programs and budgets and oversaw staff growth. Some of the programs I have spearheaded include the launch of Caress Velvet Bliss, maximized the Latin GRAMMY sponsorship for Degree Women and managed the PR program for Degree Men's partnership with the Mexican National Team among others.

As Hill & Knowlton's Hispanic director, I revived the agency’s capabilities in this area and grew the practice to include a total of four clients (one of which expanded to several projects) in a one-year period.  I also educatedother H&K offices on the Hispanic market and collaborated in and led new business presentations.  On one occasion, my Hispanic capabilities tipped the scale in our favor to win a one-year mainstream program from Ubisoft, which I eventually led.  In addition to being the day-do-day client contact, I also managed a team of six and oversaw my staff's yearly reviews.

As the Axis New York office's lead, I supported various New York Weber Shandwick teams in creating and executing public relations plans geared to the U.S. Hispanic market.  This included a program for the Caress brand around the launch of the first ever online novela, which increased sweepstakes participation by 300 percent, generate fifty million media impressions within two months and helped us secure additional projects from Unilever.  I also managed the media relations campaign for the launch of ABSOLUT Pear, which became one of the most talked about launches of the year by Hispanic media.

As the agency's multicultural expert, I managed a team of four to drive Procter & Gamble’s Crest Healthy Smiles 2010 campaign.  In this position, I managed stakeholder relationships, the promotion of dental health clinics and educational platform at the grassroots and mainstream/ethnic media relations levels as well as the content development of a bilingual website and the program’s advisory committee’s quarterly meetings.  Under my PR leadership, the program became highly recognized in underserved communities, which helped to reach millions of children within three years and helped the program become a case study to follow.
