About Cleve Shirey

Tucson-based psychiatrist Dr. Cleve Shirey utilizes 25 years of experience in his current position as a staff psychiatrist at Sierra Tucson, a residential treatment center. He provides inpatient care to adult residents who suffer from mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, and substance use disorder while working closely with an interdisciplinary team to best serve patients. Dr. Cleve Shirey began his practice as the medical director of the Alaska Psychiatric Institute in Anchorage, then joined Providence Alaska Medical Center as a staff psychiatrist. He practiced in Alaska for many years, taking on positions in Seward and Valdez, and also established a consulting group.

In 2009, Dr. Cleve Shirey returned to the continental United States as a staff psychiatrist with the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System, and in 2013, he took on his current position in Tucson. Dr. Shirey also taught at the University of Arizona College of Medicine and the University of Washington School of Medicine. Prior to launching his career, he attended Baylor University, where he earned a BS in psychology, and Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Medicine, where he received his MD.
