This was the actual start of my professional career.  As Management Trainee I got a solid financial & bank training together with a broad introduction in all other aspects of business (financial, HRM, marketing, etc...).  From there I started my career in the field of Learning & Development, occupying different roles such as : trainer, coach, internal consultant, instructional designer and training manager.

The last year of my stay with BBL, I occupied the position of Chief Financial Controller in the Kortrijk Branch.

Lafarge is worldleader in Building Materials (Cement, Gypsum, Concrete) with headquarters in Paris and Lyon, and one of the main stocks on the Paris and New York stock exchange.  With around 90.000 employees, 150 cement plants in around 60 countries, it's one of the main European industrial groups and a fully multi-national and multi-cultural organization.

Clement Leemans, was as L&D Director, worldwide responsible for HRD and OD in the Cement Division of the organization.  With a small internal consulting team in Lyon, he supported the organization with following services :

  • vision on learning & development (learning organization, involvement, sustainable behavior change)
  • company wide learning & development tracks and initiatives
  • support and facilitate the world wide network of Business Unit HRD managers
  • internal OD consulting for Business Units
  • OD & Change Management support for major projects : Performance Improvement, Safety, Merger & Acquisitions, ...

He supported major projects in China, Africa, Russia, Roumenia, Chili, UK, US, ...

I joined Belgacom in the transition phase from RTT (national state owned telecom operator) to Belgacom, a privately managed company (with mixed ownership and internationalization though the acquisition by Ameritech, Syntel and Teledanmark).  Over that period I was holding serveral position such as :

  • HR/HRD advisor to the board
  • Manager Corporate Training Center
  • OD Consultant as part of the Change Management Project (re-organization / internationalization)
  • OD Director of the Network Division

Focus on Move!

Move! helps organizations cope with the organizational challenges & performance issues they face.

The environment organizations operate in, can be identified as :

  • fully global
  • rapidly changing
  • increasingly complex
  • unpredictable

In such an environment you cannot 'copy the successful recipies of the past'.  You have to invent the future and that future will only be invented when organization develop :

  • their sensitivity towards what is 'changing' around them
  • their capacity to learn and create new knowledge and insights
  • their capacity to use peoples expertise by involving them in thinking about the 'strategic core of the business'
  • their capacity to translate that new knowledge and expertise in successful behavior and action.

Bridging the gap between 'good ideas & intelligent strategies' and actual behavior and actions of the organisation and people in the organisation that is the 'key focus' of Move!.  That focus is translated in a number of consulting attitudes :

  • we work with and not for customers (maximize involvement and use people's experience and expertise).  We do not believe in 'plug and play' solutions.
  • we focus on the process and we leave the content up to the people who worked for years in the organization and can figure that out better then any consultant
  • we develop OD, change management and facilitation skills and methodologies 'within' the organization in a way the organization becomes better and stronger at tackling change and innovation challenges.
  • We believe in 'sustainable consulting' which creates 'sustainable behavior change' and does not make organizations depending on consultants.

Move!'s intervention always starts from a performance issue in the organization.  That leads often to projects were we :

  • do process consulting for change and OD projects
  • develop and facilitate Team Development interventions (oftern geared at shared vision, mission and strategy)
  • develop and facilitate experiential learning tracks for different audiences
  • support HRD departments in creating vision, strategy and practices on Learning & Development that support the strategic objectives of the organization.

Move!... where it started ?

Clement Leemans started Move! in 2004 as a result of his vision on Organizational Learning & Change developed though more than 20 years of Management, HR & HRD experience in large, multinational organizations.  For Move!, Learning in Organizations is the capacity to do things differently, to work and work together differently and to reinvent the way you do things with all stakeholders involved.

In Move! Clement brought together a solid academic background and the experience of how sustainable learning and behavior change can be triggered in organizations.
