Part-time Tutor: Auditing

The University of the West Indies Open Campus

I taught the course Introduction to Auditing for the university's Professional Enhancement Programme. 

For this, I was required to:

  • Research course content
  • Prepare presentations, lesson plans and course materials
  • Design and mark assignments and examinations
  • Conduct interactive class sessions

San Fernando Girls' Anglican Primary School

This was the final Practicum required for the degree in education.

For this, I performed the following duties:

Teacher's Assistant (On-the-Job Training Programme)

Ministry of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education

I was assigned to the San Fernando Girls' Government Primary School. The ministry assigns On-the-Job Training Applicants to various employers and schools where they can obtain experience in the career fields they are interested in. 

I thus assisted the class teacher in performing the following duties:

  • Preparing learning materials
  • Supervising the pupils
  • Compiling end-of-term reports
  • Maintaining attendance reports

Part-time Tutor

The University of the West Indies School of Continuing Studies

I taught the Certified Accounting Technician (C.A.T.) Paper 8 - then known as Implementing Audit Procedures - to part-time students who were interested in pursuing a career in accounting. This role required me to:

  • Research the content for the course
  • Prepare presentations and course materials
  • Conduct interactive class sessions

Volunteer Tutor

Hope Centre

Hope Centre is a children's home. I volunteered to tutor a resident who was in Standard Five so that she could improve her writing skills. This was particularly crucial since she would have written the Secondary Entrance Assessment Examination (an examination to enter high school/secondary school) the following year.

This course - ER22x Justice - is a free online course offered by edX, a consortium of universities led by MIT and Harvard, that serves to make the best courses from leading universities available online to the worldwide community. This course is an introduction to Moral and Political Philosophy. I intend to achieve a certificate of mastery at the end of the course.
