Batman & Co.
I was the manager for Flourish & Blotts, a wizarding book store... Shhh! Don't tell!
I've had so much fun this year. I've learned a lot and made a lot of great friends. I know more about current news than I ever have, but I think the most vivid moment I have is from last year at Kent State. We all went bowling and were there for an extremely long time. We tried all kinds of weird styles of bowling (ex. laying down, bowling through others legs). I hadn't laughed that hard in an extremely long time and for the first time in a long time, I felt like I had a place to belong.
I learned a lot about InDesign this year. I can almost do a page without any help!
I have gained skill on photography and the use of lighting.
I have learned Photoshop skills and know how to adjust levels and such.
I took initiative this semester by being open to doing all stories, even if I have no idea what one is about. I helped some people with design on InDesign and Photoshop. I made sure to try and include members who were quieter and shyer. I've really been working to have a distinct voice in my writing which I think has come across quite strongly in my views and reviews. For the next semester, I plan on doing stories that are different, maybe more opinionated stuff.
I belong to many activities and clubs. I am involved in Thespian society and help out with other activities that the club chooses to do. I participate in the plays and the musicals. I am active in my church and my youth group. I try to invite people and show them a good time. I also enjoy writing and drawing and knitting.
Currently, I have several parts in this years play, The Farnsworth Invention by Aaron Sorkin. I have a fair amount of lines and plan on making myself stand out, even if I have a smaller part.
1. We should get to know each other better. I think we have gotten better at this but it still needs work. We should go out to eat or do activities together after school or on the weekends. From personal experience, when some of the staff went to Kent State last year, I got to know everyone a lot better and that really influenced my relationship with the people in staff now this year. When we went bowling it was fun to just let loose and not care about what the other people thought.2. Deadlines! Definitely need to work on being proactive. I find this to be a problem personally, because I am a natural born procrastinator. It is also incredibly frustrating for someone to be designing a page and we don't have all the stories we need to put on the page. How would we know exactly how to format the page if we don't know how long the story is?3. More depth in our stories. Even if we're writing a story we're not very interested in, we need to at least make it sounds interesting and have depth in the story. We shouldn't blow off the story until the last minute because we were focusing on putting ALL of our time and energy into the stories that we actually do like.
My goals are to write an amazing story that I am personally proud of and that others are as well. I would like to write a prize winning story for when we go to Kent State at the end of the year. I want to take on more news stories because I feel like those are definitely not my strong suit. I'm going to continue to work on my leads and headlines, I'd really like to create something distinct. I also plan on doing stories that are different, maybe more opinionated stuff. I'm also going to strive for deadlines, I've been getting better but I'm still struggling. Its going to be a bigger challenge because almost the entire semester is made up of me in the play and the musical so I'm going to try and use my time more wisely and also use the study hall I have next semester.
I enjoy a lot of things. I'd like to think I'm easy to get along with. I enjoy music a lot... Its what I live for. I love to write, I've been writing ever since I've been able to form sentences. I love art, although it is not my strong point. I love singing, I'd like to think I'm pretty good at it. Acting is one of my many passions. I love to act, I've been doing it for so long. There is something about becoming someone else and being able to be absolutely ridiculous without being judged. Its an amazing, freeing feeling.
