Summary

I am an experienced association and event management professional. My background includes planning events of all sizes, managing volunteer committees, contract negotiation with hotels and third party vendors, speaker recruitment, database administration, and budgeting. I have also managed employees and was responsible for hiring/firing within my department. I am proficient in the entire Microsoft Office.

I currently serve on the ASAE's Young Professionals Committee and I am a member of the Georgia Society of Association Executives. I have been accepted to Georgia State University's MPA program, where I will begin pursuing my graduate degree with a concentration in Nonprofit Management in January 2009.

Association Manager

  • Serve as the point of contact and main staff liaison to the association’s Board of Directors, Executive Committee and Governance Committee
  • Assist the Executive Director with all governance issues, including the annual election process
  • Conduct research on membership initiatives, such as changing the membership dues structure and incorporating additional member benefits
  • In conjunction with the Executive Director, prepare and review the annual budgets for the association
  • Participate on conference calls with Board members and provide written minutes after each call
  • Oversee the annual Key Performance Indicator process for the organization

Director, Professional Advancement

My main responsibilities included:

  • Overall planning of the NIRI Annual Conference, a 4-day event that draws close to 2,000 attendees, 100 speakers and over 80 exhibitors
  • All direct mail marketing and blast emails, in conjunction with the marketing department
  • Preparing the annual budget for professional development events
  • Assisting with RFPs and contract negotiations (hotel, AV companies, food and beverage, etc.)
  • Communicating with hotel contacts on room set-ups for the Annual Conference and other major events
  • Planning annual educational seminars for NIRI’s most senior-level members
  • Working with the membership department to develop marketing campaigns to recruit new members
  • Traveling extensively to provide on-site support for events
  • Conducting site visits to determine the location of future events.

In addition, as a member of NIRI’s Senior Staff I represented the professional development department at quarterly Board of Directors meetings. I was responsible for managing the professional development staff and hiring/firing inside the department.
