Events and Marketing Intern

Triple S Harley-Davidson

As an intern for the events and marketing department at Triple S I learned about what goes into making an event happen.  The types of events that I was apart of include poker runs, "Sunday Funday" rides, a Women only garage party, 10th anniversary party, "Cutest Biker Baby" contest, MountainFest, and the Classic Cruisers Car Show. Triple S Harley-Davidson has many events throughout the year and being apart of their biggest events season was enthralling and very educational.  As an intern I was in charge of updating the website on a regular basis, researching and booking caterers, ordering party supplies, and informing customers inquiring about donations whether they were accepted or not as well as putting together donation baskets.  During MountainFest I was in charge of making sure everyone at the store was happy during our eleven hour work days as well as being the hospitable friendly face and liaison to the six bands we had performing at the store.  It was such a great experience to be apart of!

I worked at the cash register, greeted at the front of the store, maintained the floor, and employed my customer service skills to ensure a happy shopping experience.

Problem Solving

At Wilson Works problems cropped up in paperwork such as the company's records and a vendors records not matching up.  I had the responsibility to resolve these issues whether it be a fault of one of our employees or a fault of our vendor.   At Triple S a number of things could go wrong during an event, such as a caterer not showing up, or a band not being happy.  I was able to handle these things calmly while procuring an outcome that made everyone in the situation happy.  

Time Management

Managed time between tasks such as filing, auditing files, entering bills, and entering time.  Making sure that things start off on time for events.

Human Relations

Listening, being sensitive, sharing credit, cooperating, delegating with respect, and asserting are all examples of skills I use in my current job and in past jobs.


Writing concisely, listening attentively, perceiving nonverbal messages, reporting information, describing feeligns, and providing appropriate feedback are all skills I've gained through my courses in communication studies classes as well as my current employment.
