Fitness Facility Manager (Recreation Specialist)

Supervise and oversee the management and operation of sports, fitness, and aquatics programs. Establishes employee work schedules and performance objectives and appraisals. Coordinate with higher management to meet goals and objectives within deadlines and participates in the Recreation Delivery System (RDS) process. Assist in the development of budgetary and manpower requirements and recommend adjustments due to changes in program demands or hours of operation. Maximize facility usage for both organized functions and individual development. Assist in the development and reviews specifications for instructors and other contracts. Monitor contractor performance, extending or terminating contracts as warranted, in
conjunction with NAF Contracting and approve payments. Oversee facility cleanliness contracts and standard operating procedures.

Continually assess facility requirements and develop plans and
specifications for projects to augment or replace fitness and sports facilities. Serve as facility expert for major and minor construction projects, providing input to PW and contractors on work plans, schedules, methods, objectives and impact of work. Work with PW to ensure all relevant Work Orders are IAW HQDA Fitness Facility Design Standards, and Installation Status Reports (Quality Booklet, etc) are properly completed. Publicize sports facilities, programs and events by writing articles for local newspapers and coordinate with marketing for posters, flyers and other promotional material. Review directives from higher levels of authority and prepares implementing SOPs and updates regulatory guidance. Conducts sports facility tours for
VIPs. Assists in the preparation of MWR and DOD Baseline Standards data call reports. Oversee the inventory of property; fitness equipment condition; tracks maintenance and repair or replacement as appropriate. Works with fitness facility staff to recommend purchase/construction of equipment and facilities. Instructs customers and monitors proper usage of equipment, as needed.

Complex Manager (Recreation Assistant)

Support a diversified fitness, recreation, sports and retail program at a fitness center with three sports fields and beach facility on a Marine Corps installation in Okinawa, Japan. Administer maintenance of facilities and equipment. Train and supervise up to 13 US and Japanese recreation attendants, grounds crew and janitors. Make recommendations to supervisors based on financial reports, customer comments and industry trends. Support in all installation sponsored sporting events.

Ensure adequate staff levels through interviewing and recommending
qualified applicants. Explains goals and objectives to subordinate staff and assists in the organization of tasks to accomplish work. Conduct first offense counseling on subordinate staff and provide information to the supervisor on performance of the team and individuals. Provide award recommendations to immediate supervisor and relays training needs. Trains the team in frontline operations and customer service. Holds meetings with subordinate team to communicate assignments and deadlines. Lead the team in the issuing of recreation equipment and ensure that all equipment is checked for serviceability on a daily basis and replaced or repaired as required. Ensure proper accountability of frontline expendable property. Promotes EEO
policies and procedures contained in local regulations, Marine Corps Orders and other appropriate sources and communicate contents of same to subordinates.

Ensure the Daily Activities Report (DAR) is completed in accordance with established policies and submit to the Accounting Management Office(AMO). Ensure accurate daily deposits of the activities cash receipts are made to the military banking facility. Resolve and/or elevate customer complaints. Provide feedback to the Assistant Athletic Director on customer inquiries into expendable equipment and retail product assortment. Prepare, collect, review and submit reports and conducts inventories and checklists as required to support frontline operations. Ensures team is properly trained in cash handling procedures to include RecTrac operations. Maintain appropriate supply levels (retail items, cleaning supplies, and expendable property) to support operations through expendables, Government Supply Agency (GSA), local business, online vendors, and organizational supply
