Challenge: Increase Deloitte Tax’s presence in the middle market business segment of the R&D tax credit world by reducing the costs associated with performing R&D tax credit study and providing a robust deliverable for use during audits by taxing authorities.

Action: Streamlined the budget, automated processes and developed staffrequired to complete an R&D study in a more timely manner.

Result: Increased Deloitte Tax’s revenue in the middle market by approximately 25%.

Challenge: Dealing with smaller clients not willing to spend the necessary fees to get a high quality product to present to the federal and state taxing authorities to sustain the R&D tax credit

Action: Presented to clients benefits of the R&D analysis and the outstanding ROI of anywhere between 300% – 700%

Result: Increased the gross revenues from the R&D practice by about $300,000 per year.

Manager (2002–2005) Rapid promotion to Manager (1.5 years vs. 3-4 years).

Senior Associate (2001–2002) Hired to support the R&D Tax Credit Practice.

Challenge: Recruit tax associates and support staffand lead a team with little experience in the R&D tax credit world.

Action: Since new to the code section, became familiar with the applicable laws and collaborated with experienced staff members to gain insight into the process necessary to complete projects.

Result: Within five months of joining the firm lead a large engagement/project with multiple staff members and providedpositive results on a project for a large pharmaceutical client that generated $1.6M in fees for the firm.
