Responsible for the day-to-day management of support functions for the production mainframe environment consisting of 11 production MVS LPARs and 4 test LPARs.This responsibility extends to periodic Contingency tests as well.Provide leadership, guidance, and support to a staff of six operators involved in all aspects of batch processing and monitoring, troubleshooting, and backup functions.
·Instrumental in minimizing outages through the effective monitoring of systems; respond quickly and efficiently to all alerts and outages; implement emergency procedures to resolve complex technical issues and breakdowns.
·Plan and conduct acceptance testing for new rollouts on a redundant system; identify malfunctions and technical issues; work with various support groups to eliminate potential hazards; update documentation and procedures.
·Maintain proficiency in all aspects of computer operation through in-house training programs including ITIL
·Work closely with vendors to coordinate operational functions and the implementation of new products.
·Ensure system integrity through continuous testing, monitoring, and proactive problem determination/resolution.
·Perform all standard technical procedures including IPLs, power on resets, SA Dumps, LPAR weight changes, and CIU upgrades; enhance system performance through a high level of proficiency with the Linux HMC.
·Selected to serve on User Acceptance Team during the conversion from Peregrine Service Center to Remedy 7.0.
·Chosen to manage and perform operational functions during EMC Star testing.
·Worked collaboratively with the Automation group for cleanup of consoles to suppress unneeded messages; enabled company to efficiently monitor systems by exception.
·Interfaced with management team to update company’s procedural website; provided technical staff with a single focal point that provided comprehensive resources to aid in all aspects of operations.
·Contributed to increased technical performance of staff through hands-on training and mentoring.
